unless you have alot of boost on a D series, you are just making alot of noise and going very slow.

its fun to laugh at tho

It depends on what you get and how much you want to do.

I paid 130 for a y8 head and complete intake manifold.

Another 250 for a mint si trans, a6 block, stage 1 clutch, pp, and 12 lb flywheel, clutch cable, alt. starter etc

Not to mention I spent a couple hundred on all new oem gaskets and seals including the main seal, water pump, timing belt, head gasket, oil pan gasket, intake gasket, exhaust gasket, etc etc.

I think for that whole setup I might have spent around 500$ for a completely fresh swap.

Just look for deals, its worth it.

The only reason you should do a mini me is if you want a new cyl head on your engine for whatever reason. You're not really going to see any power gains, but it's a nice step in the right direction if you switch over to obd1 along with the head swap.

Cyl head (z6) ~$100
Z6 Intake Manifold (or any mpfi mani) - $50
Head gasket (and this is just a guess, I forgot what they cost) $50
OBD1
Dizzy ~$125
Conversion harness ~$100
Vtec Harness ~$30
4 wire O2 Sensor $10
ECU ~$100

That's about what I paid for my stuff, built a mini me for my beater, the only reason being that I had spare Z6 heads and B2 blocks.

So $200 to throw the head on
and about $350 give or take for an OBD conversion

z6 head $100
rpm activated switch $60
6 pack of modules $25
z6 head gasket kit $125
diy dizzy adapter 1.5 hours

picked up .7 in an 1/8 with vtec crossover at 4200rpm vs. stock a6

i already have a b16a in the car with a ton of engine work done. i just needed to know how much a person would pay for a mini-me swap. because there is a guy that wants to buy my engine and he's gonna trade his mini-me and cash for it.
i'm not particularly knomledgeable with d-series. so i needed some help to know how much to subtract for my asking price. thanks for the help.

if your a ignorant person which you clearly show that you are then yes of course your right. its just so sad you where dropped at birth and never saw the true potential in a d-series. its actually sad that you owned one before. but to each his own just another reason why i im never going back to a b-series.

OP

a mini me swap shouldnt be worth more than 250 i think if its in good shape. the only thing good about a mini-me swap is the high compression and it being obd-1.

I look at it like this:

I owned a 88 CRX DX with a stock d15b2 in it. I would pull 15.3s on street tires at the track.

I then did a y7/y8 mini-me swap and was pulling 14.7s at the track with bald 13" tires. Add some radials on there or slicks and you got 14.4-14.5s easily. Definitely the fastest sohc crx I've ever been in and alot of my friends agreed. Fun as hell to drive, and it was still obdo with rpm switch. Had I did the obd1 conversion it wouldve been more efficient and faster.

Uh wrong shitbag. I did a mini me over 3 years before you even became a member here. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=554053

I added an intake, header, exhaust, exospeed stage 2 cam, z6 transmission, and tuned it with an AFC and it still ran ******* 16's. NA D-series are a waste (except for a few cases like Bisi). I finally saw the light and got a turbo kit.

i also have a friend with a a6/z6 mini me set-up with homemade itb's and crower stage 2 cam with a bisi header, pm7 pistons, running vtec with a vafc running close too 12's on his ed hatch.

Yeah wow, in a ******* CRX. I was driving a 2300+ lb EG sedan. And I know my driving sucks, I was only posting 2.4 60fts. I said "it still ran ******* 16's" to prove a point, not to emphasize my drag racing skills.

A better setup? You have a car that's 200 lbs lighter and has more torque. I have an idea, why don't you get a baseball bat and hit yourself in the nuts repeatedly with it.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 661rex89si &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">no wonder you dont think all motor d-series motors aren't capable of anything.you need boost to speed up your shitty driving lol</TD></TR></TABLE>

LOL, shitty driving. It's drag racing a ******* D-series, who gives a ****? I sold the car a year ago anyway. I actually grew out of my ricer Honda phase, which apparently at 24, you still have yet to do.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 661rex89si &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i also have a friend with a a6/z6 mini me set-up with homemade itb's and crower stage 2 cam with a bisi header, pm7 pistons, running vtec with a vafc running close too 12's on his ed hatch.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Yeah wow. Mista Bone ran a 13.1 with a stock D16Z6 and a 55 shot in an EG. Your friend wasted a lot of money and time on a worthless setup.

Take your d-series fanboi *** and jump off a ******* bridge, banana rider

I don't normally question mods but why are you in the ef/crx forum if your talking about a slow mini me in an eg?

My y7/y8 motor came out of an EK hatch that was slower then my 88 crx with d15b2 mpfi (15.3)

When I put the motor in the CRX it flew. (14.7@93 on bald 13s)

Mini-Me setup is a great mod for someone who doesn't want to do a complete engine swap, or deal with shipping/$ of a fresh z6 or b7 vtec swap.

It's very practical if you plan on building the motor right. Of course the same could be done with a stock a6 but some people like the fact their using a motor with less miles.
