i have a JDM H22 in my 92 EG all of my engine mods are listed below in my signature. i am suppossed to race this guy for about the fifth time, but this time there is a little more at stake than the gas i burning. i have beat him every way shape and form, but he will not give up. he is a rich boy with lots of money so i am looking for a quick way to keep an edge on him.
is there anything else i can do for some quick speed?
i guess the main question is if i add a nos set up to my car how much can it handle and what would i have to do as far as tuning it with the nos?
also if anyone is selling a complete nos kit please let me kno.
by the way the guy im racing is running an RSX type-S with K24bottom/K20 head with Hondata Kpro.
any suggestions or comment would be helpful. thanks again.

You already beat him 5 times. What else is there to prove?
You can run a 50-75 shot on the stock motor. Just retard your ignition timing 1-2 degrees, and run a step colder spark plug. And always run premium gas, obviously.

Just use an NOS 100 shot and call it a day!
He may have the power edge....but those RSX's are heavy!
Im surprised you can even launch with those tires.....Our shop EuroR EG melts rubber on anything short of slicks.
What does your car weigh and what kind of power did it make?
We're about 2000lbs@~200whp and went 12.1 on 23" MH's.

I would even consider using a bit of race gas, especially if you're running for a decent sum of money. It's not a must but nitrous tends to like it.

yeah man actually the NT-01s workout really well i like them a lot. in order to take off without much spinning i have to launch it at about 2500rpm tho. which aint bad since the car doesnt weigh much. i would like to guess it weighs about 2300.
i kno i can beat his car all day the way it runs right now, but he got a week and a rich daddy if you kno what i mean. i just dont want him to sneaky pete me first.
there is no track or dyno here so im not really even sure of a 1/4 time or the HP of my car.
(random question) any idea on average what a h22 eg runs in a quarter with a seasoned driver?

Im guessing you are asking this question b/c you think the RSX is going to have a nitrous kit or FI the next time you race. I would try and find a kit for your motor too if you want to keep the edge. Retard the timing like said above and if you can find some race gas run that as well. I was just playing with one of those online 1/4 mile calculators and based on your weight and your mods I would guess your car can run in the low 13s maybe high 12s if you can hook it up. Are you guys going to be racing from a dead stop or roll offs?

he said he wants to go from a stop this time. the first few times he wanted to go from a roll at 20, but he tries try say that i am jumping the honk. its not my fault i am sitting right below vtec at 20 and my car jumps hard on him every time. so he wants to have a friend of ours flag for us from a stop so theres no "cheating" or confusion.
is there a right up on here on how to install a nos kit? a friend of mine has one in Dallas for $150 i might pick up. never really plyed with nos before so i was just wondering.

do you know what type of kit your friend has? wet or dry or what? If that kit is complete for 150$ it is a steal. I am not sure about a write up but if you get the setup where you are just spraying nitrous into your intake it shouldn't be that hard to install. I would give yourself a full afternoon to get everything installed and wired how you want it. I have never installed a nitrous kit on a honda before but I helped my brother put one on his ZZ4 powered 72 Nova. One piece of advice that I can offer is mount the tank so that the bottom is pointed towards the back of the car. The pickup line is at the bottom of the tank and during acceleration all the nitrous will be forced to the bottom of the tank
. Good luck man, nitrous can be tricky..

$150 can be good or bad. When I bought my used NOS Dry kit both of the solenoids needed rebuilding. Rebuild kits cost ~$40/ea IIRC....and are simple to rebuild.
The install is easy as pie......
I actually converted mine to WET before the install...
Our hatch went 12.7 with i/h/e untuned on 23" slicks clicking low 1.7 60' times. Granted that was with a EuroR motor/trans...probably would have been a little faster had we tuned it. Head was shaved a little and it went 12.1. All it has is a front seat(light racing) and 5th gen H22 shifter assembly. The rest is bare metal inside. Full dash and running Rota Slipstreams. Stripped down doors....

the last i heard from him about it, it is a dry kit but it also comes with the 10lb. bottle. he also said something about all it needs is another solenoid to make it a wet kit.
like i say all i have ever played with is all motor and a little turbo, so this NOS stuff is all new to me.
Right now im the only guy in my town to do a H22 in a EG, so i just wanna earn a little more respect for the H power, you kno.
thanks for all the help.
one more question..... for a 75 shot dry all i have to do is retard my timing by 2 degrees and put in a colders set of plugs or is there more to it than that on the engine side of things?

You would need a FUEL solenoid+fuel line....NOS makes a kit for the conversion.
For a 75 shot, you don't even need to retard timing......I didn't at least.
For dedicated racing, you can use 2 step colders but if you have any plans of driving n/a, use 1 step colder.

to make sure he has everything with the kit what all do i need to rig up a dry set up?
if all i need to do is change the spark plugs then i may be able to get this kit on before i race him.
i talked to my buddies tuner in Dallas he said that i should get it tuned with my HonData to get the best result, but will it hurt the motor for a 75 shot if all i do is run the colder plugs?

I wouldn't worry about Hondata too much.....I was running a 100 shot WET in my car with just an MSD to retard timing....
Im also a big fan of making your 1st Nitrous pass on the dyno to be sure the a/f is good. When I was perfectly tuned with a VAFC n/a the 100 shot was already perfect. No extra tuning was required......
I went pretty fast with it in a Prelude with Drag Radials.....
