Default d16z6 Power Steering Pump Install (searched!)

my power steering pump is making a crazy whinding sound but the car steers perfectly. My car is a 94 ex civic coupe. Any how to's on the install? i'm thinking it should be pretty straight forward since it's my stock motor. thx for all the help in advance!

Unbolt whatever is attached to it so you can remove it. Then remove it. Then put the new one back in while putting the bolts/nuts back in their respective spots.

It's a self-bleeding system. There's no special pre-cautions that you need to take other than making sure any spilt fluid is wiped up.

And use OEM P/S fluid. If you walk into Advanced Auto or whatever, you'll notice a fair amount of the P/S fluids they have for sale state specifically NOT to use it in a Honda.

Get a Helms manual. It'll make life easier.

umm remove the lower power steering resivoir hose from the pump, remove the 2 10mm bolts that hold the upper power steering line to the pump, remove the 2 12mm bolts that hold the pump to the bracket, replace.

should have been able to get that figured out by opening your hood and taking a look.

You said it should be straight forward and I told you it was. Like was said, you could open the hood and see exactly how to change it, it's about as easy as changing oil and one of those things that if you have to ask your better off having someone else do it for you.

Perhaps another part to consider replacing is the washer for the feed line-to-pump connection...especially if it's a little crush washer like what is used for the oil pan.

i'm pretty good mechanically.. and i'm also smart, that's why i searched and asked to make sure i was going to do this right. Main thing i was concerned about is loosening the belt so i can remove it and then retensioning the belt. i've never messed with a belt before so i wasn't sure. thx for all of the positive input guys. now to get rid of that crappy whine.

It can be reused, it's a harder metal like the ones for the fuel lines you can use a couple of times
