either would be fast but id go b18c5 because of pure rarity! dont see many so it would def turn more heads than an h22

B series for sure, dont let people pump you up on the H2B thing, Prelude motors suck, I had one and I was gonna trade it for a GSR.

h22 swap- $2000-$2500
b18c5 swap- $4000-$5000
b18c1 swap- $2800-$3500

a gsr with an aftermarket IM, TB, CAI, header, and exhaust would be faster than a type-r or h22 swap and is also a better platform for turbo, depending on what your future plans are. also, with all of these mods including the actual swap, it would cost around the same as just a type-r swap.

I did it in my 97 civic and it was well worth it. after a good tune, it was dyno'ed at 220hp but i also had adjustable cam gears and was able to tweak that a little bit.

but to each his own. good luck man.

In my opinion if I were to choose between the 2 I would get the H22 with a B series tranny. It would be the fastest out of the box by far and much torquier than a b18 and is about the same weight as a b18 also. Can't go wrong.

wow the comments....

if those were the choices i would go H22 with B motor and itll be faster then the other two motors N/A bolt on no contest...and cheaper...

whoever said H2B does not know what they are talking about.

you my friend are stupid. how does the prelude motor suck? lets hear why you think the h2b sucks.

now for exvtec king i'd personally recommend doing a h2b swap cause its a really fun motor. and it would be about the same price your spending for the type r swap.

Depends on what you want out of the car. The H22 has a better low end because it's higher displacement. Everyone is saying that it sucks because the high end is nowhere near as good as a b18c5.

Personally I'd go with a B18C1, it'll save you a fair amount of work by not changing the OBD version. You could also turbocharge it more practically later, if you decided that you want more torque on the bottom end.

^^ Do you have the money right now for either of these swaps or is it just a general question?

Well I'd go with the B18c5 motor. That motor is pure sex. But seriously I'd do a B16 motor instead and look into installing a turbo kit.

you say you want to know which swap is BETTER. Neither really. It comlpetely depends on what you want or will be using it for. I've heard the H2b is very impressive and wll worth the time/money. Great for DD. I've heard good things about the B18C5 also, but imo, not worth it unless you are set on sticking with NA. A b18 or B16 for that matter with a turbo kit would please you also, but will definately feel different from the H. I'm just waiting for ek forever guy to show us all up of why the h2b is best

Well,
Let me ask you this, do you know why you want to swap? If so what are you going to set up the car for?(drag, street, autocross, or road racing). For a straight line it would be best to go with more top end, more motor weight will help with traction, but of course your tourqe. I myself am building a 93 honda civic ex, im swapping in a b18b1 the hp numbers are a little lw but the tourqe is great, im going to convert to a vtec, im going to bost it and do some other misc. building. But im setting up for autcross. For this you want the most tourqe for the least amount of Rpm. plus the motor is lighter than others. Street and roadracing, you can get away with anything but of course you want your tourqe for lower Rpm, also study what you want to do, i talked to a civic guru, he was telling me to look into the earlier H23 but i reminded him i like to hit hard corners and stick, nobody should be condemed for what they say about what motors, its all about your passion and how you choose to drive your car. Id go with the b for less weight, the h for more top power.

Please use the wonderful search features.

H22 may be cheaper, B18C5 may be easier.

wow this been covered before. My friend had an H23 with and H22 vtec head thing hauled *** but when he race my friends EG ITR cams, intake, exhaust he lost mainly traction probs and both swaps cost the same. Good motor idk if I would do it since swap is harder. Anyone throw a Kswap idea here yet?
