I just got done putting forged pistons and rods with 8.9 to 1 pistons in my 95 ls and got messed up comp. test results. 125 135 155 160 and 150 150 170 200 with a little bit of oil. I checked and rechecked the piston rings to 15 thou. It smokes pretty bad to. I cant find a leak down test to use. Any help?

 

those results are horrible

 

compression number are supposed to be with 10-13% of one another. 125 and 160 are way off.

I agree. Looks like the rings didn't seat right.

Were the cylinder walls honed correctly? Were piston-wall clearances checked?

 

Cylinders were honed and piston to wall was 5 thou at bottom of piston but quite a bit bigger at top of piston

 

what color smoke are you getting?
