that looks pretty ugly
looks like you let a 5 year old port it and most likely destroyed a perfectly good head.

I have never seen a ported and polished head before in real life (or know much about them) but I don't think that is the best job. I have seen some other people's pics and they are S-H-I-N-Y!!! Sorry Yours kind of looks scratched in a way... and rough.

were it should be gasket matched is not smooth and round its got like dents in it and looks kind of egged shaped. The real power is gonna be made were the port bends down into the cylinder and around the valve seat depending on how good of a valve job was done.

who did the work?
heres what an alaniz head looks like. (taken from roskos thread, hope you don't mind)

look at where your gasket sits, it looks like he completely messed up the shape of the port.

yes sir. really shouldn't even be touched clear out by the port opening like that, especially up by the injector area like that.

The intake port should not be smooth. The semi-roughness of it keeps the fuel mixture suspended before it enters the cylinder by creating a thin, turbulent layer. If you polished an intake port and made it "S-H-I-N-Y", the fuel would not stay suspended and would puddle up. Exhaust ports are the ones you will sometimes see polished.

The combustion chamber also looks to have had some work done to it. The unshrouding of the valves looks decent and will help low lift flow numbers, but the valve job doesn't look the best. I don't see many angles at all.

Hope that helps.

well he slaughtered the ports, did what looks like a single 45 degree cut for a valve job, fyi honda does a 3 angle OEM on our heads. And then did a pretty sorry job of cleaning the thing, look at the spark plug tubes.

I hope you didn't pay much for that, was it some local shop?

What is wrong with the ports besides the fact that it wasnt gasket matched properly ?

the head should work fine even if the ports dont match.

Just slap it on and run it! It's not as bad as some guys make it out to be. This is H-T, where everyone else's ******* stink, except their own. And if it ain't name brand, it ain't gonna work.

As for your intake ports, have him match your intake manifold ports to it as well. Looks like he tried to raise the ceiling a bit and ported it out to get a more direct flow into the chambers. You'll kill velocity, but it might work for boost applications. Every head guy has their own tricks of the trade. If in doubt, have him put the head on a flow bench to back up his work.
