Default Exhaust Fitment

Hey everyone,

I'm new here, or at least new to posting here. I'm looking for a greddy sp2 for my 93 del Sol si, and I'm wondering if it's "one size fits all" for aftermarket exhausts. I'm pretty sure that there's only a difference in piping size for the stock exhausts, but aftermarket catbacks will fit any model del sol. Is this true? This is what I'm looking to buy, but the only reason I'm asking is that when I put it in my cart is specifically says "VTEC" as a subtitle in all caps.

I already tried to order from EDO performance, which was a huge mistake. Has anyone dealt with The Performance Driver?

Thanks,

Matt

Absolutely not. You have to buy an after market exhaust that if made for your car, because each car's chassis is different.

I'm pretty sure that there's only a difference in piping size for the stock exhausts, but aftermarket catbacks will fit any model del sol.

stock exhaust piping is 1.5 inches I think, but after market exhaust sizes can vary, from 2 inches to 4 inches for the big balling turbo'd cars putting out over 400whp

Is this true? This is what I'm looking to buy, but the only reason I'm asking is that when I put it in my cart is specifically says "VTEC" as a subtitle in all caps.

[b]That doesn't mean ****. There's no exhaust system just for VTEC motors or motors w/o VTEC

I already tried to order from EDO performance, which was a huge mistake. Has anyone dealt with The Performance Driver?

[b]Never heard of them. I have Megan racing drift spec exhaust from meganracing.com. Recommend them for exhaust systems, or skunk2, or greddy, or apexi world sport only.

I'm confused.

What are the chassis differences between a del Sol si (sohc vtec) and a del Sol VTEC (dohc vtec)? Can you elaborate?

I'm well aware that aftermarket exhaust sizes can vary.

I don't think you understand. When it says VTEC, I'm wondering if that's in reference to the del Sol VTEC model (which is different from the del Sol si with a vtec motor).

Don't assume that because I'm not familiar with del Sols I don't know anything about modifying cars in general. I'm not sure if that was the intent of your post, but that was the impression I got.

If there are chassis differences, please tell me what they are.

there aren't any chassis differences between the del sol SI and the del sol VTEC, both models even came standard with the rear swaybar so that wouldnt even make a difference, the only thing i would check on is exhaust lengths for the intermediate pipe between the two models. Maybe someone else can help out with that one, im 98% sure they are the same though. but i know in the case of 96-00 DX-EX exhausts are completely different even though it's the same model, in that case you would want to pay attention to the "VTEC" in the item description.

I also have megan racing drift spec exhaust on my 4door i got it from http://www.bishopmotorsports.com and it was $354 shipped one of the best sounding and looking exhaust for the money in my opinion and fitment is very good.

Thanks forcefed.

Hopefully someone who knows about the length of the intermediate pipe can chime in. I'm hesitant to ask the company and then have to deal with the hassle of returning or reselling an exhaust that doesn't fit.

I see ke. You must have thought I was asking whether I could put a Dodge Ram 3500 exhaust on my del Sol.

I know that there are chassis differences between cars; I thought it was obvious that I was asking about differences between del Sols.

Anyways, no diffy between the two.

You can get your exhaust from kgsengineering.com for pretty cheap (megan racing if you want that one)

I've heard that the sp2 is one of the quietest catbacks, which is why I'm looking for it.

Bottom line- If I order an sp2 for a del sol, will it fit my 93 si? Or are there more than one version of the sp2 for del sols?
