600... well, honestly because I am extremely picky about my car, it took probably 5-6 hours, I re-ran all new speaker wire, installed Infinity components in the front, standard coax Infinity's in the rear, alpine 4ch, and xtant mono block and kappa perfect 10...

Retail for the unit is actually 999 but I got the unit through a pioneer dealer so I got it for really cheap... as far as the install goes..... I mean what else did you want to know? The factory amp is under the radio kind of behind the center console... Heres the diagram...

I got the dash kit from Scosche, and the antenna adapter from best buy. I didn't get the new honda wiring harness because it was pointless because of the fact you have to rewire the speakers anyways. (might as well just get 12v. at the harness)The dash kit was really simple... similar to a ford taurus kit where you have to transfer over the ac controls and such... I used the peripheral steering wheel control adapter thats made for a pioneer which works excellent.....

But what else did you want to know dude? anything specific?

Did your car have navi before, or was it the standard radio?

That looks really good. Judging by the components and time you put into your car, I'm sure it sounds EXCELLENT as well.

Thanks for posting the pics. The setup looks just how I had hoped it would...damn good. Have some other questions for you though. You said that you used the Scosche double din kit for your install. Would the Honda OEM double din dash kit work as well? It is less expensive than the Scosche kit and may match better.

With the factory amp being under the radio, will it be in the way of the D3? Will the D3 work with the factory amp? I will eventually be replacing the factory amp with an Alpine or JL Audio 4 channel, but I can't afford everything at once.

You mentioned a new Honda wiring harness and rewiring the speakers. Is the wiring harness what I would need to use the D3 with the stock system? Do I have to rewire the speakers when installing the D3, or can I wait until I put in the Infinity speakers I want?

Can you connect the 3.5mm aux jack that is already in the car (below the power outlet) to the D3? I know the D3 has an input on the front, but I like the positioning of the factory input plug better. I think that any cord plugged into it would be more out of the way than plugging it into the front of the D3. I won't need the input plug for my iPod anymore, but I do connect my laptop on occasion.

Lastly, is there any way you could get me a D3 through your Pioneer dealer? I definitely like the dealer price tag better than the retail price. If this isn't possible, maybe at least let me know how to get one from a dealer myself?

Thanks again for all the information.

Alright, well as far as integrating the D3 with the factory system... you cannot use the factory amp inline with the D3, you have to bypass the amp (unless you use an amp integrator which would be pointless if you're replacing the speakers) Whenever you bypass the amp it is recommended that you replace the speakers immediately just because of the fact it will sound a hundred times better and save you the hassle of doing another install down the line. Personally, I put the infinity component crossover in the DKP (drivers kick panel) and PKP (passenger kick panel) and just caught the speaker wire before it went into the door boot. (If you're doing this look at the diagram I posted for the amp wiring and catch those 2 sets of colored wires before they go into the door, they're really easy to find because all speaker wires in the car are twisted together.) I mounted the tweeters in the small panel right in front of that little window by the doors. The biggest thing thats a pain in the a$$ is wiring the front speakers (because they have a seperate tweeter and a midrange) because the rear speakers are just single set wiring coming off the amp. I would recommend just running speaker wires to the front DKP and PKP and catch the wires before they go through and just replace the speakers in the doors and you can even keep the rear OEM speakers if you want.

Also, the scosche kit looks nice, but the OEM kit looks even better because its color specific from honda, I got my kit for 20 dollars so I wasn't complaining but as far as looks I haven't had one person notice the color difference between the dash, or maybe they just didn't say anything but overall, either kit will do just fine.

You cannot hook up the factory audio jack to the D3... let me rephrase that... Technically....... you can........ but to save yourself a lot of stupid wiring trouble and a lot of sound/signal loss from cutting an RCA to get it to work, you're better off just using an RCA to 3.5 cable plugged into the back and running it out of the glovebox, center console, pocket or wherever the hell you want it. If you wanted the same capabilities of having an A/V headphone jack (like the front of the D3), just go to radioshack and buy an A/V to 3.5 and plug it into the back, run the cable like I said before and call it a day.

The only parts you should need are the dash kit and the antenna adapter (for some stupid reason Honda decided it would be a good idea to change what they've been doing for the last 20 years and changed their harnesses, dash kits, and standard AM/FM adapters so you would "HAVE" to go back to the dealship to get work done or any factory integration..... Didn't work very well ) hehe

Just use a multi-meter and hook "poke and wrap" to the factory harness... But use the multi meter to test for 12v........ Ground....... and Illumination. VSS is also blue in the factory harness but good luck there's like 8 of them

Also... fitting the D3 in the dash is cake, you could fit 3 grown men in the dash of most new Hondas

Oh and also unfortunetly I cannot get anyone a deal on a D3, but my suggestion, as much as I hate to say this, is E-Bay.... There's a dealer out of FL and NY I believe that are constantly selling any of the AVIC models for at most 50 dollars over cost. Sorry dude!

Sorry for typing a novel, and if there's any typo's and such just ask if you're confused.

Anything else? HAHA

Ever since the Pioneer AVIC nav. software has come out, it has won CES the last few years and running, and not to mention the capability of having xm.sirius.dvd.ipod.bluetooth.back-up cam. 2 a/v sources and 2 external sound sources all built into one unit for a grand... maybe a little more with accessories but still cheaper then the few grand they charge for the factory nav.

....it's just a thought, if you're into spending a few grand for a nav check out the Z2.

The faceplate? Like the dash kit you mean? You can get it from the dealership, just get the kit that honda would color match to your car that they would install the factory nav with...

or you can go to crutchfield.com and I know Best Buy carries them, and if they don't have it in the store they're able to special order it for you.

I know its out there for at least a couple hundred less then retail (999) and I actually ordered mine from a pioneer dealer straight from the factory, and a kid I work with ordered one from some internet site at the same time I put my order in, and he got his in about a week, and I waited 2 months

but I did only pay 600

then hook it up!! lol I want one but I dont know if you can use the auxiliary buttons, volume controls on the steering wheel...
How much did everything cost you? by that I mean navigation system + dash + labor.
I'm dying to get an indash gps but haven't found many good reviews of the d3 since many aren't able to get the steering wheel stereo controls to work and the ones that do, they experience an annoying lag (3+ secs)

BTW, circuitcity offer them for 899 and free installation...
but that's too much

Haha, dude go on amazon, 800 shipped, I have heard that from a lot of people... and I guess it pays to have a pioneer dealer at work , but I mean the dash kit I have seen 50 - 100, for the install we usually charge 150 because of the navigation, and yes I installed it at no charge and I got the steering wheel controls to work, and the lag is only when you first push the button, but once it registers its right on, go with the peripherial steering wheel interface for a pioneer and sony and THEY HAVE TO USE THE RESISTOR in-line with the data wire for the steering wheel controls, but the interface goes directly into the remote port on the back of the D3 which makes it cake.

oh and for the review, I give it 10/10 (in its price range of course)

It's so worth it, save your pennies

750 is definitly not bad at all, i paid like 600 + shipping... call pioneer and ask them where the nearest rep works, and from there they usually hook you up huge...

For a while they were giving away an S-1 Nav. with every D3 purchase, or there was a deal with spending an extra 50$ and they threw in a back-up cam. and bluetooth, the deals are out there, go find them! haha
