Sunroof module..how to make it close instead of tilt
My friend just bought a used G6 Civic and it came w/ an alarm that closes the window and sunroof when you arm it however I don't know if the installer hooked it up wrong or the previous owner wanted it like this..
when you arm the alarm the windows (driver and passenger) close and the sunroof slides to the closed position but then it tilts up and stops... not sure if the previous owner wanted it like this or the installer hooked it up to the wrong wire.. but to get it to CLOSE instead of tilt on arm.. do i just switch the close wire from the window module to the wire on the switch that closes the sunroof? or is it more complicated than just switching a wire? I think its wired to the "tilt" wire.. instead of the "full close" wire.. I'm assuming we just snip the wire from the module to the "tilt" wire.. and connect it to the "full close" wire by the switch correct?
thanks in advance for any help.. everything works fine w/ the modules.. and if its just as simple as changing 1 wire.. we really don't want to pay a shop to do it..
its 5AM right now.. so I'm not 100% sure on the wiring.. but I think the window module has the following
power and ground (duh)
armed output from alarm
power to motors
switch tap in (to make the sunroof close)..
so we just switch the switch wire from "tilt" to "close" and its all good right? thanks in advance for any help..

most window modules are very simple, they feed power till resistance builds up then they shut off, they get the resitance from the motor being stopped when the window is all the way up and the current just builds in the motor, when it senses this build up,it cuts the power, the way they are wired up,you cut the lead that goes to the up switch, then put one wire from the module to one side and antoher wire from the module to the other side,it lets the switch current pass through the module when you push the switch, and when you arm the alarm it passes current to the other side of the switch to simulate the button being pushed.im not to familir with the switch in the 6 gen civic,if it has a seperate switch for tilt, then i would say it was hooked up wrong, however i did not think they had a seperate switch,if they dont then he might be screwed, cause that would mean that the module is not sensing enough currnet to automaticaly turn off,the way i do sunroofs is to not even use a module but just 2 relays, then they just press the button till its closed, simple,i have tried the module on the sunroof, but it has a clutch so it wont burn up,this made it just go and go and go and not turn off cause the current would never build up,i hope this has shed some light
thanks for your reply..
the civics sunroof switch has a separate tilt.. its like this..the top and bottom (close and open) is a rocker switch thats spring loaded i guess.. u have to hold it down to keep opening or keep closing when using the switch to operate it.. and the tilt is in the center and u can press it in to tilt...
TOP: Close
Middle: tilt
bottom: Open
so im thinking instead of hooking it up to the close wire.. the installer (or maybe the previous owner requested it) hooked it up to tilt..
so can i just cut and switch the wire that is connected to the tilt to the close.. and leave al lthe other wiring and have it work? thanks for any replies.. I just don't want to try that and then mess up his new car. .or blow a bunch of fuses.. so i want to make sure..

that does sound resonable, take the switch down ,there should be two wires going to it from th module, take them of and put the tilt wire back together, then find the wire that has 12 volts running through it when you push the close saide of the button, then cut it in half and put the 2 wires from the module on each side .you will have to look at the module to see which one goes to which end,or just remember it from when you pull it off.
im thinking you may run into the same problem i ran into when doing sunroofs, they have a clutch in them to prevent them from burning up,so the current never builds up to cut the moduale off, this may be why it ws wired to the tilt position,if this is the case he wil have to settle for a realy and just hold the button till its closed.
You should be able to use a timed output and a relay to close the sunroof. If the sunroof if is partially open when you want to close it the clutch should keep it from burning up the motor.

i think its a 96 not sure.. I did a spring/shock install for a friend this weekend.. so I didn't get around to messing w/ his car.. it already has a sunroof module.. but for sum reason when u arm the alarm.. it slides it to close then tilts it instead of closing it.. any help on this would be appreciated.. thanks in advance every1
the info I have on that car does not say anything about the sunroof and I am not personally familiar enough with that car to help you.
