Default Questions for 06-07 SI owners

Overall how do you like the car? Are there any TSB's, recalls, or any other defects I should be aware of? How many miles are you getting every fillup and is it possible to get 30+ MPG on the highway? I am looking at some SI's and I can get them for invoice . Thanks for your help!

Car is awesome...defects, I would say it rev-hangs a little

It's possible to get it over 30MPG, but that's pretty hard to do and you would need to do almost ALL highway driving. The most I've ever averaged in a tank was 28mpg, the lowest being 24. I say I average around 26 usually which is pretty good, imo.

If you can really get it at invoice, definitely go for it because that is a STEAL.

I'm getting about 26mpg 99% city driving. I don't see 30 or more on the highway being a problem. I've only got ~1700 miles on mine and the mpg is still going up.

As for defects...you might hear a odd noise coming from the suspension, you might have a notchy 3rd gear...nothing that can't be fixed by the dealer under warranty if you even have a problem.

The SI is probably one of my favorite cars to have driven or ridden in.

I average 28 MPG in my sedan. On trips with highway only I get 32-33. It's a great car! I traded in an EVO to get and will never regret it!!

besides the already mentioned 3rd gear grind/notchyness and the suspension nothing else wrong. I average about 25-27 city(some aggresive) and 32-35 on the interstate.

Another question, what are the internal differences between the K20A2/K20Z1 and the K20Z3? AKAIK the IM is different & the K20Z3 has balance shafts. Also does the K20Z3 use the TSX head? Thanks.

Yea I'm new to the whole honda engine thing but from what I think I remember reading, the z3 has the TSX head with the Euro Accord IM.

Here are the few things i hate bout my Sedan Si

Always have to be careful not to scratch the black interior, with your shoes or your girlfriend's bag or her girlfriends BAGS as they get out.
I hate the DBW system
I also hated doing my first oil change cuz i couldnt break the OEM TIGHT OIL FILTER off with my bare hands LOL

And if you dont smash your MPG will be great!
And i have what a lot of Si owners have is the THIRD gear notchiness

I get about 32 MPG on a tank of gas. I also have the 3rd gear problem and had to take the car back to the dealer for a passanger seat Service Bulletin that started to get annoying (squeeking). I love the car though.

I have 10K on my '07 TW coupe SI. I drive from the city to the suburbs for work everyday and get 26-27 mpg. From Chicago to Pittsburgh I avgeraged over 32mpg. Only mod is an AEM CAI. Downfalls are some interior noise, and the 3rd gear issue. Overall I love my car more and more everyday. You definitely will not be disapointed with the SI.

Sup dude! You're looking at the Si too? I'm getting mine HOPEFULLY this week - Fiji coupe with the HFP kit coming soon. I'm getting it for invoice as well up in Manly Honda, Santa Rosa CA. All you NorCal peeps talk to Paul Ciardello, he's the internaet sales guy, awesome to deal with. I'll let you know how it does with MPG on the drive down to San Diego; it will be a mix of city, hwy, and backroads for brake-in purposes. Whats new with you bro?

Whats up Pete. Nothing is new with me. Yeah, I'm looking at an SI for the following reasons: 1) my car is out of warranty, 2) I want something that will give me 30+ mpg on the highway (The best I can do with my current car is 20 mpg and this is with 50/50 highway & city) and 3) I want something with a manual transmission. The only thing keeping me from the car is the fact that I am trying to get the most for my tradein and getting my car back (Its been sitting with the dealer for three f*cking weeks while they replace the CD player). Whats new with you?

i drive 90% all highway to and from work, i get around 300-320 miles per tank (13.2gal tank) so around 30mpg.. I could do better if I wasn't passing semi's the whole way to work at 6am

like other posters have said, you do have to be careful with the interrior plastic since it'll scratch easy. (it's the same say in my dad's 05 dakota) and the seats do like to attract fuzzies and the like

it's not as bad as what ou think.. but it will mark easily. if you don't pick up your feet getting in and out, you will leave some scuff marks on the door by the speaker and on the bottom door sill..

I've been happy with mine the only drawbacks are the interior is hard as hell to keep clean, Im not crazy about the digital speedometer, and I have the thrid gear "grinding."

MPG is great though!

I'm still breaking my Si In 242 miles on it so far gas millage really isn't that great yet.

The Interior is a pain to keep clean, mainly the fabric on the seats, most comfortable seats you can get, but damn they are a pain cleanning. I'm thinking of having my seats redone

I haven't notice any 3rd gear problems yet, or a noisy suspension. I have noticed the car seems to run a bit hotter than my Ep3 did and the fan stays on longer after the car is cut off. Haven't noticed any "rev hang" really, but I haven't been able to really get on Vtech either.

Just drove to Charlotte (825 miles each way) on my first long trip. I broke the car in properly and on the highway all the way down with the cruise pegged at 75 to avoid the Virgina cops I got as high as 34.55 MPG with the AC blasting! Couldn't believe it, and I hit VTEC getting on and off. Most all highway tanks are 32 or so, and with my normal mixed driving I get about 26 to 28 having a little fun. Love the car, 4500 miles on it now. Get lint rollers for the interior, and 3rd gear doesn't feel notchy once I got used to the throw. The SI is the most bang for your buck, no regrets a all.

Please explain to me why your seats are dirty already and you have less than 250 miles on the car. Do you drive naked?

I have almost 15000 miles on mine, and I think I've had to vaccuum the seats once, twice? It's immaculate inside... car show worthy.

Its very dusty in west texas, and the seats attract that, along with every loose string on my uniform going and coming from work.
