it's not like LEGO. It involves removing your stock radiator support and rewelding in a new one. I recommend you have a body shop do it that has done a few jdm conversions already. You don't want to be some no name body shop's experimental car. The wiring must be redone to accomodate the jdm headlight schematics. It takes a good body shop to get all the body lines to match up perfect without any gaps. It's definiately not a job for a novice.

What is so safe going to a body shop anyway? How often do you get the car back the way you really want it? How often do you get overspray and sloppy worksmanship? I'm asking I don't know. What I do know is that if you do it yourself, you can take all the time you need to get it right, plus you're not paying hundreds of dollars to some body ship that will do the least possible to get the job done, which is the case with most affordable places.

Cute analogy, but isn't bringing up just the welding process oversimplification? Yes welding requires a special skill that takes time to develop, but that is only a part of the conversion. You could teach a chimp to do a lot of the other stuff like unscrewing the bolts that hold the radiator and the top part of the fenders.

yea, i agree with NWP4LIFE, this just like a kid asking how hard to do a engine swap. if the guy is not familiar with all the work and stiff, why dont he just take it to someone who is good at it to do it? on top of that, buying all the necessary tools is not cheap. and at least, it gets less chance to screw up the work.
BTW, i like the team "LEGO", ha..........

Btw what is all this "stuff" that is so hard? That only the gods of the bodyshop can do?
I was simply trying to lead this guy in the right direction.
both right and wrong...if he is mechanically incline, has access to good tools and knowlegeable people avail to assist..the fine try......he'll just burn money if he fails and he'll learn either way....
I dove into my tranny to replace the final drive with absolutely no experience of that caliber. I would call myself mechanically inclined, but with a helms, a few trips to Sears, and a lot of time the end result was great. Not to mention I learned a whole lot. I would have rather done it myself for free then give it to the dealer or any shop (even for free), just to learn.
Good luck either way.
sack-who hopes to be in the same predicament soon
