Greddy kit
Okay i have a basically stock daily driven 00 SI..i just have I/H/E.
just wondering what your opinions are on the greddy turbo kit? Any guess on what numbers id put down? what times id run?
i know the kit doesnt come with an intercooler, but i WILL have one

ok kit, maybe 13's, no room for growth, no 3" down pipe. small turbo, if thats all you will ever want, it is a good kit. but there are way more options out there now. fittment is great. i dont like the blue box, get the emanagement ultimate and tune it.
The Greddy Turbo kit is actually a nice starting point to understand how a turbocharger and its power potential work. The kit doesn't come with a Blow off Valve either, but that is something you want to consider as well. The turbocharger is limited to a bit over 300whp, but its not a bad way to start when it comes to entering in the world of turbocharging. It doesn't make the most power out of many of the choices available, but it is upgradeable in long run. As a base point it is very reliable.

I don't know about all the low et stuff, but it will definately put you in the right direction.

It's a great kit to start out on. I'm acutally selling mine really soon. I just have to fix a stud that broke which is an easy machine shop fix. I got 248 whp out of mine @ 12 psi. I lowered my CR to 9.9:1 when I rebuilt my engine though. Overall it's a great street setup that will pass emissions which is a plus for me.

been rolling with the greddy kit for almost 2 years now
i use the kit as a learning tool . really good for beginners into force induction. im still running stock wastegate 5.5 psi and my best time right now is 14.3 on a d15b=vtec . yes it would be cheaper on you maybe to peice together but for me im not the person to find ever bolt and nut a your local hardware and autoparts store. i would buy it as an intro to this type of performance. you will learn alot from it.. hold up 13's on a boosted b16 ...somthings wrong?

also i see the kit on ebay for around 2100$ shipped..any places off your all's heads that has it cheaper?

I've had mine for over a year now and I'm very happy with it. There's not too many choices if you're looking to keep AC and PS. Good fit and finish.
Also, go with custom Engine Management.

Yes, you would be ok with the Emanage, but I don't like the idea of cutting up the stock harness to install it. Also, the Emange that comes with the kit can't be tuned. I've also never heard any really positive experience from anyone that used it.

i was gonna post this very topic.
i had a feeling the emanage you get with the kit wouldnt be ideal. what would be best? im thinking of buying one of these kits to go on either a D15b or D16z6

Talk with your local tuning shop to see what they are use to using and go with that.

i can understand how someone that's not familiar with turbo setups feels the greddy kit is the way to go. it's mostly because it's a bolt on kit and it's from a reliable source. I can tell you coming from someone that's doesnt know very much about FI, i was able to piece out a kit with VERY good parts just by research that i had to do, and the help of a local shop. I'm talking from everything relating to the turbo setup like 44mm wg, bb sc61 turbo, ramhorn mani.. etc..., including fuel and management... all for about $4,500 (including labor). just about $1,000 over a greddy (complete) kit and i have unlimited capablities. i made 373whp @ 12psi on pump gas. now, my motor is built top and bottom, but even if yours isnt, you already have all the equipment you need in order to make mroe power if you wanted to build the block.
my suggestion is peice one out to your needs. if you want no more than 250-260whp PUSHING IT with a kit like greddy's, then that's your route. If you want to make 300-320whp without building your block at the same PSI you would be on a greddy kit, peice one out accordingly. good luck.

The only reason why it seems the E-manage getting a bad rap is because of the lack of understanding of the system, so it is automatically bashed. The e-manage that comes with the kit is specific for the car that is being connected so he can start up, and start driving immediately. (It is not the same "blue box") of the older versions. The e-manage that comes with the kit is pre-tuned, but can be accessed for more power later. This is why the Greddy Kit to me is much more, because it requires you to do much LESS to get driving safely, and reliably.

so your saying you can tune after the E-Manage? like say i want to turn boost up a few PSI, would i retune it after that?

i kept my a/c, power steering, and cruise control. mines also was a daily driver for quite some time with the motor built as it is now. The greddy kit is going to cost you a minimum of $2500 dollars w/intercooler + labor (a minimum of $500). That's already 3K and you have no fuel upgrades. injectors and a fuel pump (which you will need if you want to go over 8psi) are going to run you about another $500. that's $3500 and i'm sure im forgeting something. i think its that the greddy kit doesnt bring a blow off valve. a good one (like Tial) will be around $200.
you do what you want to do because that's what's going to happen anyways, but in the long run you'll be better off piecing one the right way from the start. pz.

Umm.. the Greddy kit DOES come with slightly larger injectors (though they are a bit smaller at about 320cc). The E-manage can be accessed once the tape on the system is removed to use an access port for one that has the software and cable to integrate it. Yes, you will have to get a Blow off Valve, but you can CHOOSE which one you want to use, as part of your installation.
I'm not saying that you CAN'T use this kit to upgrade. I current STILL use my Greddy intercooler and piping for over 450whp. The turbo can be switched to another larger T25 flanged set like a GT3071R or GT3076R, if that is your goal.
In the end, its all up to your budget.

got me there. even if i wanted to i don't have that kind of time. work + 3 kids can keep you busy.
food for thought: you wont be getting any more than 220-250whp on safe boost with no fuel upgrades (if that) while at the same psi you can get 100 more whp with the right setup and maybe an extra $1500.

That's right. i forgot it came with a set but my mind was always that they were too small and i had always eliminated them as part of an installation.
the bottom line does depend on your budget, but with that kit you wont be making much power until you change out some main components. like i said, do it right from the start.
