Default What rims to use for a powdercoating project?

I'm insanely sick of the stockies on the SI.. I dont' think they go with the car at all.

At first I was going to pick up some 17 in HFP rims since that's the style I like. But I dont' like the color.. I wanted to go with either a metalic blue or a pearly white to go with my taffy white FA5. So then I decided it made no sense to buy brand new rims if I was going to repaint them.

What do you guys think would be a good style of rims to pick up used? I plan on bead-blasting them and then powdercoating so curbed/rashed rims don't matter. I really like the style of the HFP rims.. or things like Volk TE-37s. I'm not looking to spend thousands of dollars on rims.. Just want some cheap, decent looking ones to work on. I'm not a fan of spending 2 thousand dollars for some shoes, but that's just me.

Also I was *considering* these, since they look pretty decent. If I got them, I would most likely get a metallic blue tint on my windows to go with them. I know some of you hate Rotas out there.. but I don't care.

Those? I like the spoke pattern.. but I hate those big *** lips on rims. They make the wheel look small, and I don't like the difference in color.

NOT feeling those at all. Try clubrsx, X referred me there and I found tons of great wheels.

if i had a coupe
i would get either some rota grids or hfp
imo, those go really well with the body style
which color would depend on the color of the car

i would do a fiji on bronze, seen a set on here somewhere and it looks great

I love rota grids ^^

I found a site selling them in 17s in Cosmic blue, but when I ask for a pic of it, they never have them available.

I'm a lil leary ordering from them, considering I've never been able to find grids in Cosmic blue in that size ever, and when I do, they can't produce pictures or anything.

Thanks for the clubrsx tip.

Which one?

I just happen to like blue or white rims on a white car. It's not like there are a million different rim colors to choose from, you're always gonna be copying someone.

I've wanted blue rims for longer that before that post was made.

Rota's cosmic blue is just a sweet color paired taffy white. Sorry if that upsets you. I guess I'm also copying him when I say I plan on putting a mugen wing on my car after I get the spoiler holes filled/painted?

I am currently having some parts off my Harley and my stock 17"s coated gloss black. They will be my winter wheels with michelin exalto all season tourings. Match your paint or go black for the offset. It's your money homeslice!

The blue tint looks pretty good on a white car with blue rims. I would still opt for black tint though.
