Default Clay Barring is FUN!!!

So today I was all set to wash & wax my car again (see previous post: https://honda-tech.com/zero...55820) and decided to get myself a clay bar as well (I went with the Meguiars kit). I also picked up some Rain-X w/ Carnauba wash to try out.

So I washed my car, clay barred it, then waxed it. And guess what? CLAY BARRING IS ACTUALLY FUN! Washing = suck, waxing = suck x 2, clay = does not suck!

Anyways, anyone who has thought about it should give it a try. It's fun, it's easy, and it works well! Here are a few pics (check out my Flickr for other/bigger pics):

Oddly enough I enjoyed doing it for the first time to the civic a few days ago.

It's kind of fun to feel the clay pulling crap off your car. On my white paint, I get these black spots on the back that do NOT come off now matter how much you scrub. When I try and get them off w/ my nail, it just smears this dark crap everywhere. The clay pick it off after a few passes.

The only part that sucked was when I went too close to the wheel well and picked up a bunch of sand, and then started rubbing it all over my fender. Somehow.. not a scratch resulted from it.

i too picked up the meguiars clay kit with the cleaner wax, quik detailer and yellow rag. but with the intention of using it to restore a 97 bmw. it had really baked on water marks on the car. the clay failed unfortunately

so i use it now for my civic. i ran over chewing gum a while ago and it got on my fender. it wouldnt come off with anything. the clay bar soon took care of that.

pics look good man

Odd, I had massive water-markage on my civic and it took them right off.

I think that elohel had water spots... that BMW probably had damaged the clear coat which is why the clay bar wouldn't work.. I tried to clean up my mom's hood on mothers day (BMW 535i) with a clay bar... the water spots had screwed the clearcoat so much that the clay bar went on the shelf and the rubbing compound came out.. car looked great a day and half later, too much damn work though

Clay bars are great when there isn't anything wrong with the paint..

Fun....fun....I did not think it was fun, but that is me. After 2 major spine operations, anything that involves leaning over a car and rubbing, is a little painful.

I use the Meguiars Clay Bar a few months ago. It really did a great job, I was very happy with the result, but I found it hard to use on some the curvey areas.

I have the 4th of July week off from work, so I spent a couple days working on the finish. I used the Meguiars Scratch X first, then use Meguiars Polish, then 2 coats of NXT wax.

you shouldnt have to clay bar your car if you are driving an 06 or an 07.

but.....if you decide to, do not do it more than once every couple of months(that is pushing it)

sadly, clay baring a new car can ruin the paint and should only be used 1 to 2 times a year......

My first time in 8.5 months...I think I should be ok

Can anyone else confirm that this is indeed bad for new paint? Any information anywhere?

lol.......
its some retired baseball players car wash. no name dude with some cash......

i acually havn't been there in awhile. i stole one of his desk girls to go work at my MMJ shop. the chick ended up being hornier than a pornstar overdosed on viagra. had to let her go. god i wish i saved that pic of her *** in the thong now....... haha.

hence the reason im looking into wax's and clay....... lol

you guys just need to find "your spot". i had to drive about 15 minutes to this spot. but it was worth it cause theres cute blonde chicks there that give me love. if i dont get love from the places i go, i never go back.

i clay'ed my previous car >7 times in a period of 3 years...when sold the paint was perfect, no damage at all....
everytime i waxed the car, i used dawn dishwasher soap, rinse, meguiars clay kit, rinse, then meguiars scratchX, then meguiars NXT...(before i used the rainX wax...easiest to apply but didnt last long)

i dont think it did any damage..
