Default JDM front end install

I just picked up a really clean jdm front end, in black. Complete with radiator, hood etc..I'm really excited and would like to get started this weekend. Where do I start...do I need to do some welding or is it a simple bolt on process?

I bought it from a local importer...Sacramento, California, for $550...It's in black and pristine condition. I don't even have to get it painted right away because I'm putting it on my 88 DX hatch with black bumpers...

Venus Motorsports...They're listed on MSN yellow pages. However, phone number is 916-739-6002. Unfortunately, they're closed on weekends and I just bought their last one...Although they always get one every other week...I just kept on calling every week or so, until I found this black one that I bought. They had a green one last month, selling for $500, but the hood is a bit beat up...Good luck in your search and a couple more tips...Venus is a small outfit with 3 employees, so if they don't pick up the phone right away just let it ring. And I don't think they would ship out of state or even locally, they prefer big items like the front end picked up...I had to rent a van and drive 100 miles oneway this morning to pick it up...

all you need to do is take off your front bumper and headlights and hood. then you just take off the middle hood latch support bar and replace it with the jdm one (use your usdm hood latch if your jdm one didn't come with a hood latch). then you replace the two supports that hold your bumper onto your car with the jdm supports (they're the two supports that hold two screws behind your bumper lights). if you want, you can put on the jdm side bumper supports (the ones with screws by your front tires) for a more correct fit or you can just use longer screws when putting everythin back together. when you're done with the hood latch and bumper supports, just put the jdm items on and you're all set. remember to rewire the headlights--i forgot what wire was for high and low beam, but you can figure it out, just connect like wires from your stock to the jdm headlights. you only have to use one of the black ground wires

i got my front end from venus too awhile ago, luckily i got a non dented hood as well...here it is if you wanna check it out:

Btw What Lights are you using for the Headlights?I know they are H4 but I heard you have to get the JDM ones because the Us H4 don't fit...Is that true?

thanks guys...i got my paint done at precision autobody. i think they do a pretty good paint job, but they just take forever to do it. yea, you'll have to use the jdm h4 bulbs because they're slightly different. you can always go to an accessory shop to buy some jdm h4's though, i think sma carries the 'hyper-white' ones...well, at least they work. i think you can buy some normal bulbs from http://www.optionautos.com

You can also check out Steve @ http://www.hondamotorsonline.com he imports those front ends as well, he's located in SoCal, I bought my EF8 conversion from him. Oh yeah on the install I had to remove the sealant around the hood hinge so I could push the hinges back so the SiR hood would fit. Pretty cool it came with the SiR radiator with a **** radiator cap!!!!!!

I'm almost done with the front end install, just have to rewire the headlights...sorry no pics yet...I assembled everything temporarily and it looks bad!!!Especially with the black hood...I may take the day off tomorrow to finish this off, I'm really excited with my DX's new look. Another question to you all...is the jdm headlights sealed or can you replace the bulb? it looks weird with just the 3 prongs. Which one is for the bright lights?

Check it out verseone...I'm still working on a simple diagram for ya...Did you try calling Hasport? They can even walk you through over the phone while you do the wires swap. I hope this helps for now.

you can replace the bulb...your gonna have to find yourself a jdm h4 bulb, not the usdm one. yea, the bulb is hard to replace, lemme take a look at my headlights and i'll let you know tomorrow if you haven't figured out. i cant remember which way you turn the bulb before you slide out. all i remember is that you have to use a bit of force to take it out. and there's only one bulb coz it works as both the high and low beam, there are two different filaments inside the bulb i believe
