Default before/after, junk yard hood detailed

*MODS: I KNOW THIS MIGHT BE THE WRONG SECTION BUT POSTING THIS HERE BECAUSE I ASKED A COUPLE OF PEOPLE IN THIS SECTION FOR HELP ON REMOVING THIS*

here's the before, very dull, had words written with CHALK - it was a bitch to remove:

the ONLY way the writing could be removed is to wetsand, even a claybar couldn't get it off. i wetsanded with 2000grit, removed all the chalk, and was left with this:

after wetsanding, claybar'd the hood, then proceeded to apply with my PC- Meguiars M83 x4, M80 x3, M21 x2 and these are the results:

took me and my friend about 3hrs to finish the hood ALONE, still have to do most of the car, this car has never been detailed/claybar'd and it's getting a makeover, here's the passenger quarter panel:

and this is the car before the detail process (you can see how bad the hood looked):

yep, hood flew up twice on him (once on his original hood, and then on this one), hood clip broke. it's ok for now until he buys a new hood.

Is he going to fix the roof as well? I wonder what caused the latch failure. Maybe just a faulty piece.

eventually, yeah.

he took it for a tune up, and the people working on it were pulling on the latch the wrong way, to the left (like on some cars) and they broke the latch from the radiator support, they didn't tell him and he drove like that home, on the highway(55mph), BAM, smashed his windshield, roof, and hood and fenders slightly.

he fixed the windshield, and drove it around the block, 15mph with the hood closed as much as possible, the hood came up again, smashing windshield #1, so he had to replace the windshield again and try and make the hood as presentable as possible.

shitty situation, set him back a TON of money. but it's as ready as it can be for TN, it'll go in the body shop after the meet to fix all that crap.

btw, shop who broke the latch at first blew him off saying it was already like that when he brought it in, BS.

Wow. Yeah, I think they need to reconsider that thought, since if it were already like that, it would have popped up before he got there.

Unfortunately, I do. But, if you find even 1 mechanic that'll be nice enough to do you favors every once in a while, you're a lucky person. And, I must admit, I'm quite lucky.

claybar and m#83 on it 2x, still have to go over it with 80 and 21 to get it to shine like the hood.
