IAT trouble

IAT trouble
i have a 96 civic with a gsr swap and evertime i connect the iat to the manifold my car runs like **** does this mean that it is bad or is it something else.
when i dont have it connected my car runs better but i get the cel.
when i have it connected it runs like **** in the lower rpms(1-5 rpms). but i dont get the cel.

Sure its the right plug ? Test the sensor to make sure its good.
