Good luck. I'm never a fan of taping up your car though. It's made to be driven, and done so in style. have fun, let us know how you do.

I hate rock chips, though. I dont care much about how it looks on the track. That's why I painted the stock wheels a ridiculous color (laguna seca blue). If I wanted it to look sexy, I would have used my advans on the track.

I hope you know there are products that protect the paint without the ghetto taping....

lol i allready made a thread elsewhere mocking the CR the last time i went to the track taped up. Check out the crazzzzzy gumetal wheelz, biatch!!

Well, the wheels are now burned black and blue with embedded brake dust. I wouldn't want that happening to the RG2s. I dont particularly care about the stockies. They are my track wheels....and I wanted them painted a crazy color (which also signifies that Bimmer guys are below me
). I didn't really wanna paint the RGIIs a crazy color. Plus the ADVANS have the same width tires 225 front 245 rear. So no difference in contact patch really.
BTW the track was so awesome. Stories later....i'm gonna make some food.

why don't you just paint it again after the track, damn poor ***.
I swear the poor folk are taking this place over, its called a respray brosef. You could probably afford it if you didn't spend your last 2 paychecks on painters tape.
bet you used your home depot credit card to earn free Baer paint.

Says the dip#$@% that can't even afford tires.

Went to gingerman (Michigan). I used EBC yellow track pads. I have only good things to say about those pads. I was braking later than everybody with no fade at all. Gingerman is a really fun track for an S2000. Good technical tight sections and 2 pretty nice straight aways.
I did very well. The first session out, I started at the back of the group, and within 8-10 mins, i was one 350z away from the front. I was slowly reeling him in lap by lap (we averaged around 2 min laps) and when I was about 75 feet away from catching him, they checkered it.
The last session that I went out, my tires were peeling, and chunking and felt VERY greasy. I decided to just f#$k around and let the car do whatever it wanted to do. I wasn't going to fight over steer...but embrace it lol. Every turn, I was gracefully sideways and i carried it all the way to the straight away. Not really a drift, per say....but just nice graceful powerslides out of the corner while flooring it the whole time.
I think if i described the whole day's awesome experiences, I'd fill up about 5 pages lol.
there ended up being so many sessions that I left early..I got tired of running
Edit: I think the lap times were probably more like 1.5 mins or so. 2 mins sounds a little excessive, but it's hard to keep time in your head when you're driving fast.

Well...there's some problems with that clear bra stuff.
I'll start with the most obvious:
1.) They're in sunny california. I'm in humid Illinois.
2.) The bra isnt exactly "clear". You can still see it. You can see where the line of the bra is and how it sticks up over the paint about a millimeter or 2. If you have a scratch that's a few millimeters deep with touch up paint...you can still see the height delta. My car has to be as black as wesley snipes, or as black as the back of forrest whittaker's neck..or Whoopi Goldberg's lips. (pics of the car when it's clean at the bottom). The bra, to me, is unattractive and permanent. The tape is removed after the track session in about 5 mins with perfect gleaming paint left underneath. No residue for 14 days even in the sun.
3.) The tape is $12.99 for 4 rolls at costco. I use 1.5-2 rolls. That's a cost of $6-$6.50 per event. Let's say an average of 4-5 events per year that i have time to go to. That's roughly $30-$35 a year. It took me 20 mins to tape up the whole car.
4.) You can write ridiculous things on the tape like "DA MOON RULEZ #1", or "My liability coverage is zero. My *****, however, are enormous."
Car has to be about this clean and black for me to want to drive it
