went to the track last night and ran the project ej1 a couple times... has d15b swap on every pass i hit the rev limiter in second gear at 5500... but all other gears i was able to pull to 7k and vtec engaged any thoughts...

the car was warmed up and i have the right amount of oil

Check the compression before you do anything.. leak down as well. Will eliminate alot of possibilities right off the bat.

 

well i painted my valve cover and didn't put a new gasket on it... but it seemed to seal well

 

its gotta b the paint. take it off and see what happens.

do as doostur says he is telling the truth. an unsealed valve cover doesnt make your 2nd gear have a rev limiter kick in at 5500.

its a rubber gasket you don't have to replace it every time you pull the valve cover.
