I just bought a 1997 Honda Prelude, has power problems.
Hey, the prelude I just purchase has the H22 vtec motor and idles fine, drives fine but seems as if not all the power is getting to the wheels. It will not even spin the wheels in 1st gear if i hit it hard. Vtec kicks in around 5500 but seems to drop out 500rpms after. Please tell me what to look for. First Honda.
if your dropping out of VTEC your oil pressure is probably way too low and you need oil in the engine.
do the normal tune up things
plugs
wires
cap
rotor
fuel filter
even when my engine was completely stock I could chirp 2nd fairly easy. VTEC should kick at 5800(reads about 5500 on the stock tach) so that is the correct change over point.
