whats better, intake or muffler?
more importantly whats easier to remove if its too loud? I don't want something too loud that will disturb my neighbors but louder than what I have now. Is there a certain brand that isn't too loud? I also would like to hear my music from time to time too..

im looking for specific brands for 01 civic coupe lx. thanks oh yeah and any down side to putting intake or increase muffler? less gas mileage?

thanks again

how often does one have to clean the air filter of an intake like that?
And is the performance really noticeable and more importantly when I accelerate will I get more of the ROOOOOOoooom noise?

lol.

Here's my advice:

1) If you want more 'noise' on acceleration, get an intake. I would recommend not buying a generic one. Spend the few extra $$ and get an Injen, AEM, etc.

2) Get a short ram and not a cold air.

3) A quality system will come with a quality filter and will giev you directions on how to clean and when

4) You will get a few extra HP. Don't expect a ton because no mod gives you a ton.

5) Search.

I know Todd is not the right person to disagree with, but I personally would go with Cold Air, i really like my intake, even thought its K&N, i think for $155 at autozone was a pretty good deal

as neither a cold air or short ram intake will provide added power. Get the short ram for 2 reason

1) Cheaper
2) u dont even need to think about hydrolock

*Hydrolock is when your intake filter gets full of water and sucks it into the engine/doesn't let air in. This might not be a big problem if u live in California or some other hot place, but IMO its just smarter to stay safe.

thanks a lot guys, very helpful.
so what do you reccomend Injen or AEM?
I want the best

and short ram does not require issues with floods and puddles?
But how come cold air is more expensive is it better?

Thanks

CAI tend to be more expensive as there is simply more of it; the piping is longer and will have more bends in it. You always run the risk of sucking up water like Vantage said because the filter head is more exposed and more prone to the weather.

Main advantage of CAI is it will get cold air from outside the engine bay, disadvantage is what vantage said but there is an option-a bypass filter which solve the issue of flood or sucking the water.

AEM and Injen are reputable brands either one of them will perform well.

I prefered the K&N in terms of filtration.

BTW: what is the use of having a racing racing noise when your speed is low? You know I'm now using my stock air filter. Why? I can hear clearly the sound from my pioneer ....and my engine is safe

thanks a lot, looks like I'll get a short ram then because when the rainy season starts I might have to go through puddles.
But in terms of increased acceleration, horsepower, and aggressive engine noise, a short ram doesn't fall short of a cold air intake?

no, search.

And if you want more noise without hitting the wallet, I would say buy a K&N drop-in air filter...

... and remove your intake resonator.
