Help Please Auto tranny filter question
I can not find where the Automatic Transmission filter is on a 1994 Honda Civic Dx Hatchback. I have searched this site and many more web sites and I have a repair maunel for it, but it dose not list or show any thing for the changing of the auto tranny filter in it. It just shows how to change the fluid.
Well guess what? There isn't one. Silly.
I'm being serious. There is no regular maintenance filter. Honda autos are completely different than all other autos.

I was able to buy a filter at Advance Auto Parts and it showed up on there computer that you have to remove the side cover on the right side of the transmission (passenger side of the car) I just pulled it off and there is alot of GEARS
in there!!! So I guess I am going to have to go to my local Honda dealer and see what is exactly in there. Hopefully they will have diagrams to see where the filter is??

The "filter" is a small metal screen buried deep inside the case. You have to remove and disassemble the entire transmission to access it. Thus, it is not a serviceable item - so give up trying to replace it.
Honda automatic transmissions only require regular fluid changes (the recommended service interval is every 15,000 miles or every 3 oil changes). There is no external filter to replace.

She did not break down on me. I tried to change it by myself and got ripped. I went to the local Honda dealer and they laughed when I asked them where the filter is on an automatic transmission. they said there is no filter on any Honda car, truck or suv.I was thinking that Honda's do not really need a transmission filter since there so reliable. So I am taking the filter back to advance and getting my money back.
