Default ref ticket...need help.

some bored *** cop decided to pull me over today and gave me a ref ticket for my intake because i didn't have the carb sticker even though iceman is carb legal. he also wrote me exhaust ticket. problem is my car is a 2000 gsr with a 1994 jdm gsr motor in it.....i bought it theft recovery and dropped the motor in it since i had it sitting around. what the expletive am i supposed to do now? is there anyway of avoiding the ref ticket because my car still isn't registered i just put it back together only had it for a month. my cars smog has also been done illegally.

nothing because hes a bored *** bike cop. i have no plates, but i have dmv sticker that goes on side of the window and he decides to pull me over then sees the exhaust my car came with when i bought it from the auction and asks me to pop my hood..i pop it and he sees my intake says its illegal so i showed him my skunk2 manifold carb sticker and bull **** my way out of it then my intake had a hole on it and i tapped it up ghetto status and he gave me ref ticket for having fuking tape on my intake covering a extra hole.

wow man that sucks. cuz i know a few times ive been pulled over it was visual citation which like mufflers or exhaust would be a factor. never have they asked me to pop my hood. if you just have an intake just pop and stock on back on and show it to the ref. 15 dollar fee i think it was.

I heard that if you just pay the fine, your car will be marked as a gross polluter which would make you have to go to a "test only" smog shop. Anyone know if this is true? That actually wouldn't be such a big deal, but do cops know if your car is a "gross polluter" when they run your plates? I would hate to be pulled over again for some stupid reason like that and then get another ref ticket. Can anyone confirm this?

that would be the easiest way to go! if u only got a citation on the motor than it should be around $370 to $400. BUT if he also cited u for exhaust and intake, that add another $300 or $400. look at the ticket and see how many citation he gave u. exhaust and intake should be correctable!!!

In glendale it's not correctable.

Code Section
27150 VC modified exhaust (infraction)
27156 VC modified emissions (infraction)
State Ref inspection required

coming from personal experience....

ticket will be somewhere in the 800-900 dollar range. best thing to do is try and fight it. if you win, they drop all charges and you do not have to see BAR.

paying for it might still require your car to be checked. it really depends on the sitation number he used, cause it could be a gross poluter ticket.

and you know cops aren't "bored'' eric, no plates, with a little speeding, reving, loud car, to top it off you look like your 12...

anyway, sucks that **** happened. if you need anyother specific info hit me up...

Intake ticket is not correctable, u cant just put a stock intake and take it to bar and they sign it off, they check everything i know i got a ticket for intake bout 2 years ago on my ******* cx motor in my hatch and they didnt pass me because my timing was off and i was missing an evap canister. So state ref knows alot bout hondas so its hard to pull a fast one on them. modified exhaust is 10 bucks, put ur stock one on take it to police station and theyll sign it off. THeres a few ways u can go about this ticket for ur intake. My friend didnt take it to ref and paid i think $850 in fines. ANother friend fought the ticket, he put an aem intake on took pictures and said he misplaced the sticker but its on there now and the judge believed him and drop all charges.

I got reffed for exhaust and had to go to the CA BAR thing in Fullerton J.C. Heres what you do.
1- get either the stock intake
2- a stock muffler
3- call the number on the ticket to set up a date for the BAR guy to check your ****, hell check the intake and sound test (Db level) your exhasut.

I had bought a 95' stock GSR muffler and passed on it ( i still have the papers to prove it) I could sell it to you for $25 if you want. After that I put my 06 Si muffler back on and that was that. good luck

non of that will work, bar will check the ecu, and hook up an OBD2 scanner, the scanner won't pick up **** since your car is OBD1

on top of that, they will check the motor, realize it's a JDM motor, and no pass you. they will fail you, and tell you not to come back till the proper USDM motor of your year or newer is put in.

even though your only going in for intake and exhaust, the guys at bar know what they are looking at. to smog, the scanner has to be hooked up. after that it's just a snowball effect.

1. wait till the coury date is a week away and get an extension.

2. once your new court dat comes up, go to court, and plead NOT Guilty, and waive your right to a speedy trial. meaning 45+ day extension.

after that you go to court 4-5 months from now, and you have a good chance of the cop not showing up.
