Fuel Tank Leaking
My 92 prelude has a leak under. I sand it off the area the hole is about 1/4 cm or 1/8 of an inch. I think I hit into something.
My question is... is it better to replace used tank or have it patch or weld. I found a recycle fuel tank about $100 or so. I can't find the new one I don't know how much it cost.
If I just patch with putty would it last? I try to make it last at least couple more year, because I just replaced the the Engine (JDM VT..) recently. or just replaced with used tank, how hard it would be to replaced one? I also replaced the fuel pump a year ago.
Does anyone had experienced this problem, how would you solve it?
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your precious time.

You've changed the fuel pump yourself so you should be able to drop out the gas tank. Its pretty much just strapped in, and the fuel pump (like you already know) is mounted to the top.
I'd replace it entirely though. It could be rusting from inside out and you could only see tip of the ol' iceburg. If you wanna keep the car (and you just dropped a motor in so I'm assuming you do wanna keep it) spend the hundred bucks. .Just jack the car up as high as you can on 4 jack stands (after you uninstalled the pump from tank of course) and drop the tank down using a hydraulic jack.
Or, atleast drop it, empty the gas out into something, and check the gas. See if it has any particles of rust or anything else. If not, do a entire visual inspection of it, patch the one rust spot you see, and put it back in. It shouldn't take you more than 3-4 hours at the most to swap a tank in and out.

Thanks for the pointers, That's the first thing I need to do is remove the tank and see how bad. If I just patch it, how long would it last though? Yeah, I plan to keep the car as long as I can. I have it for almost 10 years.
