i want to paint my valve cover, but if i take it off will it be ok to put it on with the original gasket? it will probably be old and it would be wise to put in a new one, but will everythign be ok if i just use the old one?
and also when i install it back on, do i need to put any type of bonding material. Or is it just take it off, then bolt back on

depends on how old it is, i reuse my Felpro gaskets without any leaks. Just use gasket sealer on the corners.

i heard they are like 8 bux at a honda dealership, but then i heard from somone else that they saw one at autozone for 45.
if i replace it this time. can i take the valve cover on and off again without replacing it?

recently sanded and painted mine. i bought the whole "valve cover gasket kit" from an ebay store. i didn't need all the extra little gaskets because i could not get them off the old valve cover without trouble. all you need to replace to be safe is the gasket that is a ring shape that goes around the circumference of the valve cover.
