CX speedometer going weird

Default CX speedometer going weird

While I was driving home my mph niddle dropped down to zero.then i was like the f*ck. so i pulled over then restart in my car. it was okay... then i went to the varsity meet in down town atlanta, while i was going home it was being the b*tch. so i was like ahhhhh on the highway. so with my long and confusing story. does anyone know whats wrong? can't be the speed sensor because it drop back to zero when the car is off an goes to twenty when rolling.don't know i need help if not. please, don't say search. does nothing. if anybody have a 96-00 civic speedometer any kind but the auto one

is the maximum it goes to only 20? Mine twitches and sometimes falls to 0 when im driving. Im almost positive its either bad vss or vss wires shorting.

dead speedo and CEL = VSS or the connection at the tranny

no CEL = speedo head is dying

its the speedometer itself if you have no CEL. they are pretty notorious for going out. you can replace just the speedometer, or just find a used one and swap out the whole cluster.

I have a '01 Honda Civic EX, and the speedometer needle trips out sometimes too. Like for example, I'm cruising on the freeway at a good 70mph, but then while I'm driving, it jumps up to 80mph, then back down to 70mph. Why does it do this?
