OK, so my speedometer stopped working on my 96 EX...

So i am pretty sure its my speed sensor! dammit... so do you have any suggestions on what else it could be, or where i can get a speed sensor for cheep?

for the hell of it check the plug goin in to the tranny mine fell out and my speedometer didnt work till i pluged it back in.

I would also suggest a junk yard or try your local mechanics shop, they might have some lying around. I know a shop around my area has old d-series motors from swaps they have done. Those ******* VSS go bad all the time. What are the symptoms of yours? When mine went bad, my speedometer would jump around from like 0 to 20 then to 60 then back down to 0 then to 97 etc...basically it was jumping around like it was possed. It was really annoying and it gave me a CEL. If you don't have a CEL, then it most likely isn't your VSS. Could be the actual speedometer itself (I have also had this go bad on me) in which case you can order a new speedometer gauge from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

thanks a ton... i will check that... we recently had a bunch of snow and ice, and me and my friend both took our civics out having drifting good time... so that may be it

my speedometer didnt work ..found out it was a blown fuse cuase by a short in the o2 sensor wire.

this really suck, i hate having anything wrong with my car!!!

but the good thing is my odometer doesn't work since my speedometer stopped working also... so i havent gained a mile on my car in 5 days...
