if you do highway driving, i'd say h22. the b18c5 cruises pretty high (something i personally dislike)...but eh, C5 is good if you like tight gearing and auto-x. I've been debating on b18c5 vs h22 for about 3 months now, and i've gotta tell you, the h22 is more appealing to me everyday.

It would be really close...stock H22 vs stock b18c5.

in 4th gen.?...if its street driven, id say go with the 1.8....for fitment and ease of swap, compared to the H22...

H22 civic will. I've raced a friend with an JDM ITR motor in his EG hatch against my H22 EG hatch.... both of us just had bolt-ons. Bottom line... I beat him by 2 car lengths each time (3 races).

For a 4th gen, a H22 will really throw off the geometry of the chassis (I've seen a H22 4th gen CRX... doesn't really drive/handle as well as a 5th gen hatch). For a 4th gen, stick with a high comp B-series motor and it'll kick ***.

I don't know if that comparison is fiar. What models were the two cars? What were the weight differences? Who was the better driver? What type of tires were you both running? All these and more factors play into which car will be faster. I know a guy with an H22 in his hatch and my times at the track were .5 second faster then his. So is it fair to say the ITR hatchs are faster then the H22 hatchs hands down? Nope. Overall, one is not going to be way faster then the other.

yeah in a 4th gen i would say to go with the b18c5 for sure as well... drops in easier leaves you with more engine bay space to play with (turbo..4-1 header) you wont snap axles as much do to understeer.. although i would like the h22 in there... much torque is NICEEEEE
