Default ok..need a little help..

Alright guys, noob here, need a little help understanding my car.. i see all this "eg8" "ek9" stuff refuring to their cars..what is mine? i have a 98 civic dx with the d16y7.

My other question is..i have a d15b7 stripped sitting in my garage. would that engine be a good application for rebuilding with top notch internals and boost it? or should i start with a different block. Thanks in advance for the help.

Those are chassis codes.

Search around, there are lots of boosted Ds out there, they can be inexpensive and very fun

Yes, plenty of people will call it an "ek" because it's a hatch. Though NO ek's were ever produced in america. They came as sedans AND hatches.

They're referring to the 4th, 5th, and 6th digits in the vin.

Some people call my car an "ek" when in actuality, it's an ej6.

anything with a y8 in 96-00 in the US was badged as Ej8.
anything with a y7 (non-vtec) was badges as Ej6.

yeah, you might want to go w/ the d15b7 if you already have it, although when you say stripped, you mean no tranny? Also, d16y8 s are popular and pretty inexpensive. But at the point of purchasing a new block, you could go other different routes. What's your budget?

Well heres the thing, i dont wanna use the engine thats in the car now because im driving the car. The d15b7 is there lying around. No tranny (gonna get si tranny) no head, no oil pan, just block with internals. So im gonna build the **** out of the b7 and boost it. did a search on b7's, found a lot, read alot and pumped so do a mini me boosted.
