got a 91 crx si BONE stock. i get about 200 miles until my gas meter dips slightly below the empty line. i dont know whats wrong, my friends get close to 300 on thier crxs. anyone know why this might happen? i shift around 2800 rpm, little bit of racing, all tire psi at 32, got a full tune up when i bought the car 2 weeks ago. the only t hing i believe that is wrong is the motor oil im using, currently im using chevron 10-40w which is not engergy conserving oil.
also, when i fill up, the gas stops slowing close to 9 gal, in the manual it says the gas tank can hold 11.3 gal, which means that i have 2 extra gallons, is this normal?

 

yeah when i fill up, i only get 8.5 gallons in.

 

spark plugs? injectors clean? uhmmm i dont know any other possibilities heavy foot X= larger injectors?

 

I thinks the problem when you try to fill up is that Honda doesn't want you to run out of gas so it makes it so that it registers as empty when you have about 1.5 gallons left. Thats what it does to me and the rest of my hondas.

Try cleaning out throttle body with some carb cleaner and make sure you do a tune up, check timing, replace spark plugs, cap, rotor the rest.

Then see how much mileage you get. I get about 33mpg I love my honda.

 

yeah , i did a pretty complete check up, i did the rotors and pads, cleaned the injectors, chekc timing belt, new coolant, new brake fluid, new air filter. the only factor i believe is the car has 172,000 miles.

 

hmm, last summer I was getting 420miles on a full tank (granted that's while running on fumes to get to the gas station). Now I'm only getting 360 per tank...

 

My rex has 202,000 miles.......A bad clutch(slips alot) and I did a tune up the first day I bought it adn ever since every 2500 miles. I used to get terrible gas mileage......well I just decided to shift before 4k rpm everytime, I did and I didnt have to fill up for almost 3 weeks got 372 miles on a full tank, WOW.....so now I lay off slamming it in first and second.

Also if the gas station says your filling up full at only 8.5 keep manually pumping mine will shut off around 9, and Ill keep pumping until about 10 1/2 11 somtimes, I know becuase I overflowed once at 11....LOL but anyways Just keep pumping till YOU know its full. and drive conservatively.

 

I drive an HF. Its possible to get like 50 MPG from what I here. But I only get like 30 to 35 and can only go around 250 miles. thats stop and go driving and hammering it thru first and second just to keep up with the traffic. Stupid *** 60 horsepowet. But does anybody else here have an HF. What do you get in miles per gallon.

 

oh yeah one more thing. I can only put in like 6 gallons of gas and I only go to a 1/4 sometimes 1/8 of a tank and its always close to just 6 gallons. ONE time I got 6.1 or somthing.

 

i get exactly 250 miles per tank every week no matter how i drive it thats mostly stop and go i have a dx with 16 by 8 rims on it i hate them but i have no $$ to buy new ones
