1983 Accord Starting Issues
Hello All,
I have a 1983 Accord 1.8. The other day it died while I was driving. I pulled over and looked around under the hood, but couldnt find anything wrong. I tried to start it up and it started and I got about 4 more blocks before it died again. The next morning I tried to start it up and it started but promptly died. Now it wont start at all.
I have tested the fuel pump and it is getting power and pumping fuel. The carb was rebuilt about a year ago. I don't seem to be getting spark as I tested all 4 plugs for spark. The wires are new as is the distributer cap and rotor. The ignition coil is good also. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

i dont konw if your car has an ignitor in the distributor, but on the newer hondas, the ignitor fails relatively frequently and woudl cause a no spark situattion such as the one you are describing.
perhaps this might be affecting you too, but i honestly have not a clue about the parts on an accord of your age,

you might wanna go to Classic Honda forums in Honda Tech. Owners of older generation Hondas are there. I had almost similar problem, and turns out the starter was bad.
Thanks for the help. I didn't even see the classic forum. I will post there too, but just as an update I checked the voltage going to the ignition coil and I am not getting any power to the coil when it turns over.

How do you know the coil is good?

You should have battery voltage at the coil with the key on. Have you checked the fuses?

The coil is good because I have both a known working used one and a brand new one.
None of the fuses are blown. I check through them all twice.
