running a 170 instead of a 160??
Ok, I already searched on here and didn't find anything (probably cuz Im lazy) and SVrider's search is down so Ill just ask. My SV stock runs a 160/60/17 and i was wondering what the pros and cons to runnin a 170 would be. I know you can do a F3 wheel swap to run a 180 but I dont have the money for that now.
Thanks for the help guys.

My YZF600 wears a 160 out of the box and I've been running a 170 for a while now and haven't really noticed any ill affects.
I did lower the forks about 10mm though.

you can't run a 170 on the stock SV rim. The rim is too narrow. The F3 conversion is usually so you can run the 170, some people put the 180 on there, but it's pretty pointless. The bike doesn't need a 180, nor does it benefit from one.
I've got an F3, but haven't upgraded my tires yet so i'm stilling running a 160.
The pros? Slightly more stable in corners, maybe a bigger contact patch.
The cons? You have to buy an F3 wheel. Depending on the tire, more rotational mass, meaning slower acceleration. But, mostly unoticeable.
You'd definitely notice a gearing change more. Another thing is to get a 70 series front tire as the stock SV is 60 i believe. This makes it slightly taller, improving turn in (like it needs it) and makes the speedo slightly more accurate.
