I left my '97 Civic in a garage for 3.5 weeks without driving it. I tried to start it up and it wouldn't start. I charged the batteries overnight and it started up the next day, so it appears that the battery was out of juice. I didn't turn on my alarm, so the battery wasn't really used.

In the past, I've left my Civic in the garage for 2 weeks without driving it and it would start up.

Questions:
1. Does the battery running out of juice after 3.5 weeks of leaving the car in the garage seem unreasonable?

2. If (1) is yes, does that mean the battery should be replaced?

3. What is the longest amount of time you have left your car in the garage without driving it and still had juice in your battery to start up the engine?

 

3.5 weeks is almost a month, so that's very reasonable. That's common man. If your car was low on battery it wouldn't start after one or two weeks not being started up. I've been there several times in the past 2 years with 7 different cars. Don't worry about it, your battery is fine. If you have a capacitor and amp in your car then that could be something to look at as well.

tru but depending on how old his battery is, leaving it sit can and will make it go completely dead, had it happen to me 2 times, take it out and get it tested its free
