Ok im on the 110 freeway towards pasadena when my motor starts smoking my pedal loosens up and smoke starts coming through my vent and into the trunk. i park the car in highland park. everytime i start the car i can hear knocking in the hed im assuming the pistons are hitting the head all the oil is drained. do u think it's the valve cover gasket or the motor is blown? the car still starts horribly though. so can i just replace the gasket and buy oil.

 

motor has to be blown.. do you see oil spillage anywhere? If so? Near the head? or none at all? You probbaly cracked your block, threw a bearing, engine is bad especially since you say oil is drained.. Valve cover gasket would not have caused this. And if it WAS the valve cover gasket, means oil all leaked out (which most likely didn't happen) and you ran your engine dry of oil.. and threw a bearing which in turn threw everything else out... The majority of the oil doesn't sit in the head, it sits in the pan/block. Did you overheat the car at all?

Im guessing you ran your car out of oil and you spun a bearing. Or if you say the noise is coming from the head, maybe you ate a valve or something? If its just a stock single cam, replace the motor

 

yea i see the huge hole in my block. so now i need a new motor. sucks. how much do stock d16y8's run for? plus install?

 

I smell a troll...but if not, you can find them on here between 4-800 bucks, install should be cheap since it is PnP

ouch!

y8's arent too much, youll just have to do some looking around, im sure it couldnt be too hard to find one as alot of ppl are doing b h and k series swaps so the d series motors should be almost everywhere....

 

since my engine is blown what parts are interchangable if i get a new block?

what parts from my blown d16y8 can i use and not use.

i found alot of d16 heads on here but im trial only cuz i lost my other account password. im def not a noob. lemme know thanks.

whatever is salvageable. if the block has a hole in it then its pretty much trashed, you might be able to use the head depending on if its still good or not. maybe use the intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail, injectors, dizzy, transmission,engine harness etc...

 

oh yea hey can someone help me out i found a d16y8 used $100 shipped on marketplace for sale....here's the link can someone tell that guy to email me...i have 3 links can someone please inform these guys imma buy one asap depending on who emails me first. in dying need of my motor back.

I swore he said he had a hole in the block.. Maybe I'm blind but I swear I don't see a block in any of those sales.. Just heads...

 

if my block is blown. wouldn't i need an entire motor or just the short block?

 

If your head is still good, just get a new bottom end, have that and your head resurfaced, new head gasket and away you go.
