Default HM Intake

Hey guys,
i did some search but didnt really find anything, i might be in the wrong place but i wanna know what would be the best intake reponse?
As of know i have an intake from autozone i heard that what matters is the filter.
So i just want to know if i should keep it like that, or keep the stock air box with a k&n filter, or customize the pipe into the stock air box?
if pictures are available that will help too just wanna see examples in a EJ8!!
TIA

Shortram to stockbox with K&N highflow filter.
Better than any shortram or CAI ive ever used.

Although, i have heard many great things about the "whale *****" intakes, either real or fake. I think when it comes down to intakes, it seems to work better when the manifold has a large area in which to suck air from, rather than a tube.
My best advice would to be to keep the stock box, throw on a K&N highflow filter, and remove the intake's resinator and other components.

It works...
Its quieter than an open filter, doesnt suck up water, stays cleaner longer, isnt flashy, filter is 'better' and less expensive than conical ones, looks better, etc...

Before I relocated the oil filter, I used the resonator, cut into a 'J' as a cold-air-pickup, so it functioned exactly as comptech's or mugen's box, bringing up cooler air from the fenderwell, without as big a risk of sucking up water, as if the filter itself were down there

I painted my intake arm flat black too... I do wish I had black couplers...

I think Ive had it this way since...2003?
I would never go back to a silly sri/cai setup with cone filter, while N/A.
Depending on the chassis, you may have to cut the arm shorter - I did once for the y8 and again, shorter still, for the ls manifold

I did the remove the resonator thing a couple years ago on my D16 now its nice an quiet on idle and cruise, then gets mega loud when i get on it. I dont mind it, sounds a little rice, but rice haters can kiss my non resonated *** hole.

Intakes really cant be considered ricey unless you rig up duck call whistles or something to it.

Exhaust's on the other hand are another story.
