b16 SiR II 96+
Ok, originally I was going for a f20b into my ek hatch...still a little pricey. So I am starting to go with the SiR hatch theme, so an alternative engine that will go along with my theme would be of course a b16 SiR. Thing is the only ones I saw are for the 92-95 SiR not for 96+. My question is, I have heard of the B16A4 in lots of forums saying that is the SiR for the Asian market for the 96+ model. Does anyone know where I can source this engine? Would the 92-95 SiR be compatible, I know its OBD2 but I might be moving to NJ where the DOT rapes motorists because of the whole older motor into newer car thing. Please help me out H-tech!!!

there should be a 96+ b16a swap, for some reason they don't have it listed. just call and steve will get you what you need, expect to pay a little more for obd2 though
gl, let us know how it goes

i've the exact engine you're talking about swapped into my EK hatch.
the engine code is still B16A and everything basically is the same as the 92-95 b16a. 170 hp and same gear ratio as the CTR gear box. mine also comes w/ a LSD too, woohoo

HMO is the only way to go...
i did what you are doing (research) before i got my b18c and there is no reason to NOT go with HMO
best customer service, best condition parts/engines...
prices are on the high side but there is a reason for that, trust me. price is the last reason to go with a swap source.
call steve and talk with him.
BTW, NJ is not that much of a hassle at all for inspection no matter what engine setup you have. i've not had a catalytic converter on my '97 hatch since 1998, i have a vented catch can w/ no PCV and i'm good til '09 ; )
