if your on a budget sometimes you gotta work with what you got...you can definately use the stock rods with the forged pistons...the first motor i built was a simple, forged piston, shot peen'd rod set up...it did what i needed it to do...the machine shop can even make your stock rods and forged pistons into a floating pin set up...
good luck and happy boosting

if you decided to do rods you can hit up the h-t sponsor section of forced induction classifieds...you can find rods for about $300 as stated above...you could push the motor a lot more if you waited and bought a set of rods...i would definately get arp head studs and a good head gasket...honestly if you take your time and build it strong the first time you will have less worries in the motor...

if your building a motor on the side you should totally take your time and do both rods and pistons...but on second thought, it also depends on your HP/TQ goals...
use the stock rods get them cryotreated and get ARP rod bolts and your set you wont need to upgrade untill MAYBE over 400hp
the cryotreating will cost like $30-$50 per rod tho i believe and then you gotta but the arp rod bolts so maybe you should just get some eagles and call it a day

The work and effort you'll put into making aftermarket pistons work with factory rods, when compared to the power handling capability of the end result, is just not worth it. Buy some Eagles, or Scats, and enjoy the peace of mind that those components don't often fail under big loads.

I have seen plenty of people with stock b20/b18 bottem end make 400-420whp by only upgrading rods bolt to ARP bolt. A friend of mine is currently making 440 with a b20, arp rod bolts, double h/g and arp headstuds. I would just do that or put in both aftermarket piston/rods.

if you seriously think you will stay at 7psi you don't even need to spend money on pistons..just run a stock motor...too many people over build...

you have to machine the rods to work with the forged pistons.
if you are doing the build right you are already spending about 1500 dollars in parts, between getting a new head gasket, timing belt, water pump, oil pump, bearings, machining the block, and crank if necessary, new pistons, head studs...the rods should only make sense.
work with what you have, but keep in mind it cost more to build it wrong twice than right once.

yup
its cheap and it works i always ask ppl when was the last time they can say they saw a rod split, crack in half, or anything of that nature. its the rod bolts that go first i believe RSP uses stock rods with arp bolts in their autocross cars
