Oil Burning issue B16a2 Help me out
Hey guys I am having oil burning issue on a b16a2 and I am completely out of ideas what is causing it. The block has been completely re-build recently about 5 days ago it has only 250 miles on it. The block was honed the rod was machined, new bearings, new seals (OEM), new pistons & piston rings (OEM), new gaskets (OEM), also new belts and pumps. I did the head maybe about a month ago it was in great condition except 2 intake valves that were bend which I replaced. So I had the Oil burning issues before I rebuild the block or the head and I guess I still do because I just check the stick and its low. Id say it burns about 1 ½ Qt – 2 Qt in less then a week depending how hard it is being driven the engine is not throwing any CELS except knock sensor which I am replacing tomorrow. It doesn't smoke only it high revs and my friends tell me when they drive behind me and I hit VTEC it smells like *** but I haven’t hit past 4k RPM after rebuild because I am still braking in the block
So the only thing that I haven’t replaced is the ECU which is stock (P2T) so could the ECU cause that amount of oil burning? What else can it be? Please help me out here guys

Did the leak down test and compression test don't remember exact results of the leak down test but i know it came out fine and compression test was about 230 across

i heard ur engine tends to burn oil sometimes wen u just rebuild it.. but sounds like ur burning a lot more then id expect a car to burn after a rebuild

Yeah i heard it too. but it wont burn that amount as i am also it used to burn the same amount before the rebuild .. basically everything is changed except the ECU and the residue on the muffler seems as if it as running a bit rich

Your making it seem like everything is good, something has to be leaking, so unless its a seal ( leaking oil when you sit ) it has to be something inside the engine. The fact that you asked if the ecu can be causing you to burn oil has me thinking... Did you hone the block, did you rebuild it all ? Some where a long the lines something is wrong.

you said u my be burning a litte rich .
here what u need to do change your oil and have your ecu checked by a honda tech with a scan tool or a launch to make sure all your sensors are working right and all the values are good .including the map sensor...if it malfunctions it will dump fuel at iddle and wash the walls of the clyinders and saturate the oil hence the burn

That is my issue The block was honed by very experienced machine shop it came out great wish i took some pics of everything to post up . . . But the cylinder walls were in ok condition they had been a little scard but the engine did have almost 90k miles to it also the previous piston rings were holding on great.. But now the block was COMPLETELY REBUILD and machined by me and one of the best mechanics in Boston that is known for his work on Honda's so i doubt that a man error was made. i actually gave my mechanic a call which he is in Brazil now for two weeks (yes a long *** distance call) and he thought i was bullshitting him i really cant figure out whats going only sign that i get is that im running somewhat rich . . . .
but tommorow after work im going back down there with one of his guys to the shop to check it out again and install the knock sensor
