Tranny Questions from a D16y7
Well, last night I just finished putting my new throwout bearing into my tranny. My friend told me that it was safe to use 5w-30 for my tranny, because its similar to tranny fluid. But when I was test driving it today, I noticed I can hear my gears meshing well. Like as I am shifting into gears, I can hear all my gears moving. Is it because im using 5w-30 oil and not transmission fluid? Please im just curious to know what the noise is. Thanks!
meshing... like whining sorta? loudest in 1st and maybe 2nd gear? Loudest while going at a slow speed? I could see where your friend said to use 5w30 because tranny fluid seems really thin (especially their new formula) but they have an additive to compensate for the thin-ness... Manual says to use 10w30.. I'd use that instead but obviously Honda MTF is best.. ignore any synchromesh replies you may get
