Default * automatic tranny nightmares *

Ill try and make this easy to understand:

car: 93 civic auto DX hatch.
swaped in a d16z6 with manual engine harness.
we kept the dx auto tranny using an auto p28

Problems:

The shifter will not shift into gear unless we put a key in the "shift lock"

when your driving down the street it does't shift until 4-5K rpms.. and it shifts kinda hard.

money and time were tight when we had to do this swap so, thus the reason we didnt get a ex auto or even convert it over to manual.. so if any of you automatic experts out there have any advice, I could really use it!!

thanks

How bad is the fluid, sounds like a shift valve that is sticking, flush the fluid and see what you get, if it sat for a while it probably needs to be completely flushed.

We did fill the tranny up with fluid when we got everything running and put back togeather.. We'll flush it this weekend and see what happens..
As far as the "brake switch" what number would be in the diagram below?

Thanks for help guys!! This thing has been the biggest pain in the *** all week!!

When you tap the brake, you should normally hear a "click" sound in the shifter assembly. Obviously I'm guessing you don't hear it. Did you mess with any plugs at all by the brake assembly? My car would shift hard when it was in limp mode as well. It would be like an instant shift/bang. I converted to 5 speed so I don't have those worries anymore.. But in a way.. I feel guilty for removing a perfectly working auto tranny It never hurt me for me to abandon it.
