to quote what i always hear.
its not the alarm that makes the difference but the instaltion
i think any alarm will work great as long as the thief can't disarm it quickly,
check out the sticky on this thread about diy alarm intalation to see what im talking about.

I have replaced 3 CrimeStopper Gargoyle alarms in the last 2 weeks, all where installed about 1-1/2 years ago, if it is any indication, the shop I work in now did about 200 of them 1 to 2 years ago, 3 in the last 2 weeks and 7 in the last 2 month, it looks like I will be replacing most of them.
Although the installs were not stealth all connections were soldered and at the right places, all of them I have replaced have had diff. problems.

If you want a "temp" alarm I've got a Fox FAI-8200 (ebay) two way alarm kit with window roll up module I could sell you for like 100 bucks shipped, I never installed it or plan to use it.

</TD></TR></TABLE> As I mentioned, all the ones I have replaced so far have had diff. problems, from constantly triggering, to remotes will no longer program to the brain, to LED or siren output no longer working.
But if it is a temp alarm, then go ahead, all the ones I have replaced are 1 - 1 1/2 years old.

we sell crimestoppers at my work and the only time we have problems like FCm is talking about is if the alarm is well over a decade old.
if you are going to get a crimestopper with a 2-way and remote start get the infinity FM. it is the step up from the 2016 but the remotes are far more reliable and they go through batteries less. 2016 remotes are probably the biggest problem we see with crimestopper, the battery prong breaks off inside, they wont code anymore, or they suck batteries dry in no time flat. all which require warranty replacements.
I have sold numerous brands of alarms and I would say that crimestopper falls in the middle as far as reliabilty.

If you read further along in that sticky thread someone asked the same question and I gave my answer.
The quality of their product might vary over time or across their lineup. Nevertheless, I have a good basis for my opinion and I'm not likely to change it.

I have had the same problems as fcm in terms of the grime stopper. If your going to do a stealth install. it would be better to wait and get the clifford unit. Why pull the dash twice.
whats wrong with KARR alarms? i used to work for the company, and never had any problems with them, i even have one in my civic...only thing i see wrong with them is that most dealerships that sell them rip people off like no other..they pay $120 to have the alarm installed on the car and sell it for $795!!!

What's wrong with Karr?! I have been replacing them every single week since I became a professional installer 2+ years ago! IN FACT, JESSEMAN JUST REPLACED ONE EARLIER TONIGHT.
What I love about Karr alarms is that I can scavenge the sensor plugs for use on DEI alarms, since DEI doesn't sell or provide them. And since I replace them so often, I can always count on a steady supply!
I also scavenge the inline fuse holders.
