Default Recommendations for a B18C-R

Next year I plan on going K but for the meantime I am looking at dropping some mild cams in my JDM ITR swap. I don't wish to change the valvetrain, so it pretty much narrows my choices down to buddy club spec 3+ and skunk2 stage1 cams. Here is my setup:

00 JDM ITR swap
- password jdm J's knockoff intake
- DTR header
- 2.5 piping to ES oval
- Kenji chipped ecu

Here is what I already have:
- Hondata S100 ecu
- Skunk2 cam gears

For reference last time I went to the dyno I put down 190whp and 131tq. Forgot to add that I mainly use this car for road race/auto x.

Thanks for all the replies guys, not that I am rich or anything, but I am not looking at the cost of these cams as a factor. Also if I stayed with stock cams, would you guys upgrade to 310cc injectors or keep stock?

What does your hondata S100 tell you about the injector duty cycle?

Why not just stay with B Series and build it? B18C5 is an eFFing EXCELLENT motor.

Who knows, I just may do that, I am in no rush to go K, but it is possible in the future.

looking like tuned with itr cams is the most popular, honestly I was kind of leaning toward the buddy club 3+, but the poll says otherwise.

honestly do whatever makes you happy and then come back and tell us how happy you are to have made the decision... I've never understood the need to ask honda-tech for "permission."

Still... by and large, we're a supportive group, and didn't want to see you blow money given the facts you stated to us.... best of luck.

It just depends on how much money you have and when you want the k series. With a good tune and a set of skunk 1s you will see some good gains. If you leave the stock rev-limit you wont have to worry about valves. You can also find someone selling a pair for like 300 bucks on here!!!

have a buddy with the BC's, toda header, fgk rmo1a, mugen intake and tuned on power fc vs. my b18cr, apexi filter, jdm header, t1r/mugen catback, stock ecu and we sat next to each other until 4th when i shifted 800 rpm too early...... i would spend another 300 when you do cams and get valvetrain, do a beefy cam.

as far as a mild stage 1+ cam you cant go wrong with the BC3. its going to be a great auto X setup for you. I have seen live comparisons between it and say the s2s1 and b16, ctr, crane, crower cams.

for the most part under vtec they dominate. period. in the window from say 6500
to 8500 there are other choices, however if your plan is to put good power from
say 3500-6500 these are the cams of choice imho. of course, they are going to net
more peak power than your itr cams too, just not monumental power say 5-8whp.
you might make 20 more in other places though.

the crower 63402-a's globally put down more power than the bc3 and s2s1 but
wont be 'cheap.' there are more used bc cams and s2s1 cams floating around
these days if you wanted to go that route.

I am in for dyno testing comparison charts on your motor good luck!

ps: keep in mind, a valvejob cut with your new cam in mind will always be most
effective... I know there are some comparisons of the bc3 cam with and without
a valvejob and its a considerable difference. I would search it. I think b19 coupe
did the test or I could be wrong.

I still love my B series. The k have not appeal to me that much. My mans cammed out Type R motor was basically even with rsx-type s that had ips k2 cams.

The only thing I want from the K, is the tranny, only if they have B2K.
