Default High mileage S2000

I've been looking for an S2000 for quite some time in my area. I found one nearby for $13,000 OBO. The car is very clean but has 113,000 miles on it. I've never worried too much about mileage when it comes to hondas. Is the S2000 any exception?

I planned on going to test drive the car and maybe offering $12- 12.5 ish. I'd like to buy one with cash and no loan. That's my budget right now. Any advise from S2000 owners would be great. Thanks

Make sure the 100k maintenance was done. CarFax, service records both help. Have someone familiar with the car check it out for you. There are a few TSB's on the '00-01 models.

I had a White on red 02 with 90k that I was clean. Didnt have the 100k yet but I tried to sell that thing for awhile. I finally sold it for around 12,500 so just to give you an idea what you should offer Id hit him a 10,500 cash and 11 tops.

go to http://www.carfax.com and type in your info (VIN number) and then you'll get a complete report. 25 bucks give you unlimited carfaxes which you can sell it to others say at $1.00 (HT doesnt allow it though) and make your money back if you really want. From my personal experiences though, carfax isnt 100% effective. So just be weary that even though it comes up clean .. it might not be clean.

best way is for a mechanic to check it out

That doesn't really mean anything though since mileage isn't the only factor on the price fluctuating though. Condition of the car, type of title, maitenance records, number of owners, etc...

I think that the year of the car makes a big difference as well. The jump in price between an 01 and 02 is pretty extravagent.

I'm going to check the car out this week sometime. He said he could drop the price if he took the rims off & threw on the stockies, which is good since I don't like the wheels anyway. Maybe I'll offer 11K without the rims.

It's too bad I can't find any for the same price range with less miles in my area. I've found a few silver ones but I'm really set on black. I'm not buying on impulse either. I mean, I've been looking for a long time and just cannot find anything. I've seen a lot in CA & FL for cheap with low miles, but buying a car 1,500 miles away seems like a hassel.

If anyone else knows someone who's selling one and can vouche for the car let me know. I guess I'd be willing to travel a good distance. Thanks for all the advise so far guys, I appreciate it.

I flew from Eastern NC all the way to Dallas Tx, and it was so worth it.
1200 miles or so. The drive home(19hrs) will be the best man.

Also I picked one up with some higher miles on it and got it for just over 11,000 including travel expenses. I had to make some minor changes to make it more "mine". The springs are still on the way.

Nice car man, I love it. The drive home would be a blast I'm sure. How did you go about insuring it before you drove it back (assuming you did) ?

I suppose I'll still check this one out. If it's a real solid car I'll go for it, but I'll reconsider flying out to get one. Thanks everyone.

I'd keep my eye out for another one. I searched for a month and a half, drove 6 hrs to get mine. 00 with 64k, one owner for 13,500. very clean for an 00. I think you can find a better deal

Does anyone know of any other websites to check out besides autotrader, ebay, cars.com and craigslist?

Geico Direct Bought a BMW on Sunday, gave him the cash, called Geico, 10 mins later my car was switched over, fine to drive home

Going direct through a company is much easier and cheaper rather than an agent.

i done think you have anything to worry about if you buy this car because, the s2k has a pretty bullit proof engine.
