1990 accord. automatic
i went to get my car inspected today and the mechanic found that the cv boot on my right front tire was torn and there was grease everywhere!
he told me he could order an axle and install it or i could do it myself.
question is i have no clunking or clicking noise coming from the axle. can i just slip on a new cv boot and call it a day?
or is necessary to replace the whole axle?

well depending how long your boot was torn. I mean, dirt and bunch of other stuff could have gone in. I just replaced mine, at least I know I put in the correct amount of grease and the boot seal is properly on. Boots are like $25? Shaft(denpending which side) is ~ 50-80. So I went ahead and replaced mine. Not too hard to do. It clicks when you're turning your wheel. Such as making a left or right turn.
