Default Codes 8 & 14 in limp mode ( have searched, extensively)

88 hatch Std 5spd, recent JDM d15 transplant, daily driver. Since I bought this car two years ago it has bucked and jerked while trying to maintain a constant speed. If you accelerated or totally let off of the accelerator it was fine, when you were just "floating" your foot on the accelerator, justr trying to maintain your present speed, in any gear, it would jerk almost like a rev limiter but with no unburned fuel smell. It also did not sound like a loss of fuel or fire but more like an alternating amount of power during combustion. Just 280miles after engine change The car quit again, the rotor screw backed out and rotor spun freely. Without this site and the search feature, I can only guess how long it would have taken to stumble onto that problem. I now have the rotor issue resolved (with the aid of blue loctite), but am now stuck in limp mode.

The code 14 EACV has always been there since I've owned the vehicle, along with the jerking aforementioned, vehicle however was not in limp mode and would rev into red at WOT. After engine change same issues, until rotor incident. I now get code 8 CAS and engine will not rev past 3500 RPM, even in gear.

To address the EACV problem these parts have been traded (with no success) from my CRX (no codes runs PERFECT): EACV, Distributor,Engine harness, intake manifold w/throttle body, all engine sensors, ECM. Each step produced no change in civic, nor produced faults in the CRX.

Please someone help. Just because I haven't posted a lot doesn't mean that I haven't read and watched alot. This is my first hatch but second "civic" and third CRX.

I'm really disappointed at the level of help on this BBS.

well first off the cas is a very important sensor you might need to check your conitunity. or replace distiributor or ecm. next the iacv is what is probally making your car jerk on slight accelleration also check wiring , clean valve or replace valve you need to fix both codes before i personally drove it becuase its a matter of time when that cas totally screws you such as no start or denation

Clean or replace your EACV. Sounds like a distributor wiring problem.

If you are running OBD0, the ECU does not have limp mode. Did you change any wiring when you swapped in the D15?

No wiring was changed then. Code 8 was caused by the rotor spitting out the screw, then screw contacting pickup coil. Dizzy has been replaced, code 8 is gone. But, the EVER present jerking, and code 14 is there. As stated IACV has been replaced with known good one from CRX, with no change, and yes, ECM was reset. IACV has also been tested, and is good. I did notice though, that wiring harness to dash/firewall does not match color configuration or pin count of the engine harness(this having always been the case since I've owned it). The Engine harness has a wire in the plug that mates to nothing on the firewall side.

well just check the sensor for ground if so then go to other wire and check continuity from wire to ecm
very possible that somone could have wired wrong seen it before they ethier switch the iat or the orange wire on the same type of plug
