Default PCV to atmosphere

Anyone doing this? Seems like it would keep the engine bay cleaner and free of a catch can. I'm talking about leaving the stock PCV can in the back of the block and routing a hose from the top outlet to under the car. Cheapest and easiest way i think. Opinions?

I searched and there are 2 threads about it specifically. They are a couple years old, just wondering if anybody is doing this now?

That's how I ran it, based off of Muckman's recommendation.

I gutted my PCV valve and ran a hose from that to the ground, then I have a hose from my valve cover breather to the ground.

Works well! Cheap and easy.

The main thing is to not build pressure up in the crankcase, so that should work well

That's what I'm doing, but instead of just going straight to the ground it goes to an empty brake fluid bottle. I have 2 bottles one for the valve cover and one for the block. Same concept, just catches oil instead of dripping it. Both of my bottles are bone dry still though *shrug*

^No, because it's no longer have a vacuum source. The vacuum source for the black box will be cap off from the intake manifold or use for other vacuum source.

The hose that connects from the PCV to the intake is being left open. Where the hose connected to the intake is closed off so there is no boost/vac going to the PCV hose

edit: ^^ you beat me to it LOL

I never understood taking the time to gut the pcv valve. Why go through the trouble when You can just run a vac line off of the black box?

Yup, I capped off the port on the IM where the PCV line used to be connected to.

Honestly, I just don't like having to reach under my IM to connect it. lol That's it. If I had easier access to the black box then I would just run a line off that. I also had an extra PCV valve in my tool box that I used.

But yeah, same thing. If it's easy for you just go off the black box.

If putting just a line off the valve cover to dump somewhere, is that fittings diameter big enough to move the proper amounts of air in order to relieve enough pressure?
