I'm pretty sure that 94-97 and 98-01 clusters are NOT interchangable. They'll plug in but it'll always pop a fuse, if I remember right.

i think ur right Hatch

The 98-01 have certain little differences (such as the factory immobilizer that has an icon on the cluster)

It won't pop a fuse. The fuel gauge, seatbelt light, and ABS lights are in different pins.

have you tried it? it will. i've seen someone try to put a 97 cluster into a 98, there was a certain fuse under the hood that kept popping. he finally realized that 94-97 and 98-01 aren't interchangeable and the problem with fuse went away. only 00-01 have the immobilizer btw.

the 95 has gray faces while the 99 has black. now you have a mismatched cluster. should've just got a 94-97 one.

94-97 gauge clusters have gray faces. 98-01 have black. you have 3 black faces with 1 gray according to what you posted above.

If you switch around the wiring our the circuits you might be able to make it work but that's a different story. And BTW DOHCgarage, the 94-97 are grey face while 98-01 are black like someone said so that alone is a difference. The black looks much better IMO.

nope, i'm actually right. i've seen it done. you're right, you can modify the clusters to work in any car you want to; we're talking stock into stock. you had to modify the 98 to work in the 97, correct? an unmodified 98 cluster WILL NOT work properly in a 97.

no i ment i had a 94 gsr cluster and i threw in a 2000 gsr cluster at first the gauges went crazy so i changed the green film on the back of cluster and everything worked great no wires needed to be modified

i got what you meant; you had to modify the 00 cluster to work in the 94 properly. you said yourself the gauges went crazy when the cluster wasn't modified; therefore, they're not the same. if they were the same the 00 cluster wouldn't need to be modified.

jesus christ, can you read?? you said that we're wrong; that all 94-01 clusters are the same. they are obviously not the same, as you've already said yourself. you said 2 different things; that they are the same, and that they're not. the 2nd part was correct, the first wasn't. it's not that complicated.

calm down just because someone knows more than you does't mean you need to get all pissy. at least he knew what he was talking about. next time just be an *** from the start and just tell them to use the search button instead of crying like a baby.

there are two ways to make the cluster work. one way is swapping the films. the other way is to dissassemble the clusters and swap the gauges out. there is a thread with a step by step process to do this somewhere.
