God damn insurance company (help please?)
I had my R stolen May 11, after being found completely stripped my insurance company is ready to settle. They said they have my check ready, $14,500. It was a 97, in perfect condition ($10,000 in reciepts, 50,000 miles). I think that number is way too low. What can i do???
they did this to me on my old R
what you have to do is find some 97 R w/same miles selling for more money and make copies of these for them and give them reciepts as well
then tell them you dont want thier money, you just want the same car with the same stuff and miles on it ! if they can find one and do that for that amount of cash you will take it

Simply call them and ask them how they attained that number and that you believe that the $14,500 in no way corresponds with the "Fair Market Value" for the car.

exactly, dont let them rollover on you, they know the "market value" hell 99-00 SI's gofor $14k! dont let them get one over on you, get a lawyer if you have to!

yep.. same here on the east coast.. i totalled my Si and got 16,200 for it, not including anything aftermarket.. i could've bargained higher using ads, but i was in danger of un-totalling the car by doing that.. i suggest you do that for your R though, it works very well..
That's exactly what one of my friends did. He had his R stolen, and the insurance didn't know how much to give him back, because there's no blue book value. They were going to reimburst him with the GSR value, but he found several ITR's for sale, and insurance just paid for his new one.
