Default My EH3

The Story
Hey, I am Aaron from Toronto, ON. I recently bought a '93 Civic Si Hatch and gave my '93 DX Coupe to my dad. Ever since day one with that hatch I've had nothing but problems.

I bought the car knowing the rear main seal was leaking. I figured I could get a month out of her or so. A couple day's after owning her the bottom end decided to let go (spun a bearing in cylinder 1). I purchased a JDM D15b since i've had nothing but great experiences with the motor. About a week after swaping the d15 in I was driving home from my girlfriends place at around 2:30am and I felt something funny on my foot so I turned the car off and coasted into a gas station parking lot. I pop open the hood and didnt see anything wrong. Hopped back into the car goto leave and she wont start. Was turning over too easily cam sounded too free. So I got my tools from my hatch and took off the valve cover. Turns out the timing belt shredded and there was nothing left besides about a 3cm piece of the belt. A buddy of my was in the area and offered to tow me. On the drive home i hear another very WEIRD noise and got him to stop. The noise was the driver side axle flopping around the trans. Not even a minute later it gets extremely loud and all I heard was scraping. We stopped opened the hood and saw the motor sitting on the floor. After holding the motor up with a belt and getting the car home I went to bed.

The next morning i ripped apart everything to see what was up. Where the driver side mount screws into the block had snapped off and started bunching around the timing cover which caused the timing belt to shred.. which lead to the motor falling to the ground. Fixed everything tapped the block replaced the belt and she ran again.

A couple day's later the car started smoking like crazy once it gets warms it just puffs. Turns out the head gasket is cooked. So i've finally had enough and in a couple weeks I will be swaping a LS (b18b) in. Maybe down the road boost her.

keep it aaron. maybe the D15B is trying to tell you to upgrade. the body is in good shape (which is rare) so just swap again and call it a day. you won't find to many in canada with rebuilt quarters.
