Default First Oil change

Sorry for bringing this up but I was noticing on past threads that most people are changing their oil around 5500 miles with 15%,, now,, I just bought the Fit on the end of April and its barely the beginning of July and I already have 4800 and its 15%.. Is that normal? Why is my 15% already lit up? Shouldn't it come on at 5500 to 6000, Its only been 3 months and I have way over 3000 miles.. i don't drive to much **** my job is like 5 miles away,, whats going on? Any suggestions

I'm guessing your username is the reason for it? Lots of quick driving? Not everyone has to change their oil at the same mileage. It just depends on how you drive.

I just bought my fit 2 weeks ago, and the salesman told me some extensive info regarding the oil changes. He said that the first oil change should come when the oil life indicator is at 0% to get rid of all the factory oil. He said the 3 months/ 3,000 miles rule is old and invalid now. It was also mentioned that I should change the oil when it gets to 15-5% or in 12 months, whichever comes first. Again, this is what the salesman told me- you do whatever you feel most comfortable with in your car.

Your maintenance light will come on when you have 15%. So I recommend changing it then. The trip from 15% to 0% is pretty quick.

the car computer determines how much the oil has been through. if you drive harder, you will reach 15% faster. i got my 2nd oil change at the dealer 3 days ago at 11500 miles. the guy at the dealer told me that some of the fits go 10000 miles before an oil change.. i drive my car kind of hard but not crazy, and it shows. im guessing at 4500 miles for the first oil change you drove yours pretty hard. doesn't hurt the car thought if your worried as long as you change the oil when it tells you to. just don't tac it out everytime you shift gears and pop the clutch trying to grap 2nd and 3rd ok? also if you can afford it, use synthetic...mobile 1 is the best but casterol syn is also really good stuff. if you drive hard, it will give you extra protection over conventional oil, the viscosity doesn't breakdown like normal oil under hard conditions.

I'd never push it past six months. Not a good idea - especially if you are pushing the speed through it.
